Chapter 358: Our new beginning...
Lyla
The celebration continued until midnight, and from the way the wine and the food kept pouring out, I wasn’t sure the people who came to celebrate with us were ready to retire.
I was feeling tired and must have dozed off several times in Ramsey’s hand. Ramsey just sat next to me, refusing to touch a drop of alcohol save for the glass of wine we shared as a toast during the reception.
As the clock struck midnight, pack members gathered around us, after fixing a new crown of roses on our head and began to sing and dance loudly, urging us to consummate our night as newlyweds.
They escorted us into the pack house, cheering Ramsey on and telling him to make sure I had a great time. My heart fluttered with nervous excitement as we climbed the stairs together, leaving the crowd at the foot of the stairs cheering us on.
I felt giddy, like a new bride, and Ramsey had a quiet smile on his face, the kind that meant, ’I will go all out tonight.’
My body trembled with the memory of him slipping the binding ribbon around my wrist and slipping on the signet that showed the mark of a Luna. I had felt his need for me through our bond; it was clear.
Instead of going to his room, which I expected, we stopped before a wide double door carved with the crest of the White Moon Pack symbol – a Lycan entwined with a crescent moon.
He pushed the doors open, and I gasped.
The room was magnificent, like something out of a fairy-tale dream. It was thrice the size of any bedroom I’d seen in the pack house, with high ceilings and French windows that overlooked a small forest. Colored candles flickered from dozens of golden holders placed throughout the room, casting dancing shadows on the pale blue walls.
The fireplace – something which I’ve never seen since I arrived here, burned low, casting a golden glow across the polished floor and fur rugs that were so soft.
Rose petals were scattered across the floor, creating a romantic path from the entrance to the massive Double king-size four-poster bed. It was large enough to hold ten people.
The bed itself was draped in thick velvet curtains and covered in more rose petals. Garlands of white roses and baby’s breath hung from the bedposts, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. The silk sheets shimmered like fresh cream, luring us to use them.
On the tables in the room and by the window were fresh flowers in a glass vase. White lilies, sprigs of lavender, and peonies created a peaceful atmosphere in the room.
Someone had already spent hours preparing this room for us.
"It’s beautiful," I whispered, stepping into the room. noveldrama
Ramsey closed the door behind us and let go of my hand, only to pull me into his arms. For a moment, we held each other in the candlelit silence.
"I feel like a truly newly married couple," I said softly, letting out a shaky breath. "This feels... surreal. Like in one of those human stories."
Ramsey chuckled. "I feel the same way." He stepped back just enough to look at me. "I’m actually nervous."
I blinked. "You? Nervous about being in the same room with me?"
He smiled. "This is our first night together as husband and wife, and I’m just here wondering if I would meet your many needs. I want it to be perfect, you know."
We laughed as the tension between us eased slightly.
"Well, this is not our first time..." I chirped.
"It is our first time as real couples, wife."
I rolled my eyes and reached down to tug at the tight fabric of my ceremonial gown. "I need to get out of this gown. It’s beautiful, but I can barely move."
"I’ll help you," Ramsey offered gently. "In our tradition, it’s considered bad luck if a man helps the wife out of her gown; the easiest way for him to die is after a few days."
I turned to him, already taking a step backwards. "Then, don’t..."
He laughed, pulling me to him again. "Relax, Ly. It’s an old wives’ tale, and it only affects those who believe in it. Besides, haven’t we managed to break every single one of those traditions?" he winked at me.
"Already starting married life with expensive jokes, Alpha Kincaid. Not funny," I jabbed at his rib, and he doubled over, feigning hurt.
I wobbled to the top-to-bottom size mirror in the room, and Ramsey immediately took his position behind me.
I studied the room from the mirror, still amazed at how big and beautiful it was. I caught Ramsey’s gaze in the mirror.
"What is this room? I’ve never been in here."
"It belonged to my parents," he said quietly, looking at me briefly, before busying himself with removing the pins in my hair. "It’s the pack’s designated bedroom for the Alpha and Luna."
"And you chose it to be our official bedroom?" I turned to him.
"Actually, my grandfather made that call, but..." he paused, studying my face in the mirror. "Do you mind? We could use my old room or any of the other rooms if you prefer."
I shook my head, touched by the significance of sharing this space with him. "It’s perfect. I’m honoured to be here."
We stared at each other in the mirror for a while, the reality of our new roles settling over us. Ramsey broke the silence with a chuckle. "What?"
"I still can’t believe I’m a Luna," I admitted. "Everything feels so strange, like I’m living someone else’s life."
Ramsey nodded. "I felt the same way when I first became Alpha. One moment, it was my coronation ceremony, and the next, I was being crowned Lycan Leader as well. It’s difficult to adjust to having so much responsibility, so many people depending on you."
I gave him a small nod. "Well, I have you to guide me through."
He smiled and rested his hand on my shoulders. "Are you ready?" he asked softly. "For me to help you with the gown?"
I nodded, turning to give him my back. The dress had dozens of tiny pearl buttons running from the nape of my neck to the small of my back, far too many for me to manage alone.
Ramsey swept my hair gently to one side, his fingers brushing against my neck as he gathered the loose strands. The simple touch sent a shiver down my spine. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the exposed skin at the base of my neck.
I inhaled sharply.
"You were radiant today," he murmured against my skin. "I couldn’t take my eyes off you during the ceremony."
I inhaled again as he placed another gentle kiss just below my ear, his breath warm against my skin. The combination of his tender touch and loving words made my heart race. I felt myself leaning into him.
"I love you," I whispered, meeting his gaze in the mirror.
"And I love you," he replied, "And I’ve waited for this."
Slowly, carefully, he began to work on the buttons of my gown. Each one he released was followed by a gentle kiss to the newly exposed skin, creating a trail of warmth down my spine.
When he finally finished with the last button, I was breathless. My knees wobbled slightly as heat pooled in my chest and stomach.
The gown loosened around my shoulders. Carefully, he eased the heavy silk from my arms and helped me step out of it, lifting me slightly so the dress wouldn’t drag on the floor.
"There," he said softly, hanging the precious gown on a nearby chair. "Better?"
I nodded, feeling lighter without the weight of the dress. The silk undergarments I wore beneath were far more comfortable, though I was suddenly aware of how little separated us now.
He reached for the layers of the undergarments and began to remove them one by one, his lips grazing each spot he uncovered. His kisses were now more urgent, burning instead of soothing.
I was trembling when the last of the underwear fell away.
He didn’t speak.
Neither did I.
Then his mouth found my shoulder again, trailing to my collarbone, my jaw, my cheek. His hands ran over my stomach, my hips, my arms, the curve of my breasts, stopping briefly to trace his thumb over my hardened nipples – like he was trying to memorise every curve.
I leaned more into him, my breath catching.
His eyes met mine in the mirror again, and I saw the depth of love and desire there. His eyes had darkened to almost black, and I could sense his Lycan was close to the surface.
"You’re so beautiful," he whispered, as his hands gently rested on my shoulders. "I can’t believe you’re really mine."
"I’m yours," I confirmed, turning in his arms to face him. "Always."
I reached for the buttons of his coat, but he stopped me with a hand over mine.
"Let me pleasure you, my wife," he growled softly. "Let me worship every inch of your body... and put to action all my words."
What do you think?
