When Her "Death" Couldn't Break Him

Chapter 1980

Chapter 1980 Nothing But A Stranger

Hearing Cecilia's blunt question, Heather looked a little embarrassed. "I was just hoping you'd take care of me in my old age."

Charlotte was floored.

She has never even treated Cecilia like a real granddaughter. And now she has the nerve to ask Cecilia to look after her? She isn't even Cecilia's biological grandmother.

Cecilia, on the other hand, kept her expression calm. She wasn't surprised at all by Heather's absurd request.

"You want me to take care of you? Are you telling me all your children are dead?" Her tone was even, almost casual.

Heather's face fell instantly. "Cecilia, what are you saying? How could you curse your uncle like that?"

"Uncle? What uncle?" Cecilia asked flatly. "My mother was an only child. She had no brothers." She paused for a moment, then continued, "Since your son's still alive, shouldn't he be the one taking care of you, not me?"

Cecilia knew the real reason Heather had come to her.

She'd taken money from her own son and handed it over to Magnus. Her son and daughter-in-law had kicked her out, and neither of them wanted anything to do

with her anymore.

She had always favored boys over girls. Even her own granddaughter couldn't stand her. With nowhere left to go, she showed up at Cecilia's doorstep.noveldrama

Heather was fuming but held it in. She needed help and knew she couldn't afford to blow up.

"I'm still your granny, Ceci. How can you be so cold now? I'm homeless! Are you just going to let me freeze and starve?"

Cecilia didn't flinch. "I'm sorry, but if I help you, does that mean anyone with an elderly person they can't care for should come running to me? And let me make this perfectly clear, you're not my granny. My grandparents live in Drocver, not Tudela. You're nothing more than a stranger."

Heather was furious. No matter how hard she tried, Cecilia just wouldn't budge. "You heartless brat! You'd better take care of me or I'll take legal action!"

“Go right ahead. Jamieson Group's legal department will be happy to assist," Cecilia replied. Then she turned to Charlotte. "Lottie, you go on ahead. Get some rest. I still have to stop by the hospital."

"All right." Charlotte nodded, smiling as she turned to leave. As she walked off,

she couldn't resist sticking out her tongue at Heather.

Heather seized the moment to hold onto Cecilia. "You're not going anywhere!"

Cecilia's gaze turned cold. "Let go."

"I won't!" Heather clung on, desperate. In her eyes, Cecilia, now the CEO of Jamieson Group, was loaded. Taking care of one elderly woman shouldn't be a big deal.

Cecilia shook her off and got into the car.

"Drive," she told the driver.

The car started moving. Heather had

been planning to stand in front of it, but when she realized the driver wasn't bluffing, she quickly stepped aside.

"That d*mn brat! She's actually planning to run me over!" Heather muttered to

herself, still standing there.

Inside the car, Cecilia leaned back and closed her eyes.

It brought back memories of her childhood. Back then, she had followed Paula back to her home.

She had tried so hard to fit in, to win over Paula's family.

But Heather had never treated her kindly. From day one, she'd given Cecilia a

hard time, calling her names like "brat" and "deaf girl."

Heather would gossip to her friends, saying, "This kid's like a curse. Our Magnus is way better."

Cecilia had spent much of her childhood alone, quietly nursing the pain.
