Chapter 202
Summer Lowell was shocked. "Shirley actually dares to show up?"
Louis, however, withdrew his gaze. "Look carefully. Is that really Shirley Olson?
Hearing this, Summer took another close look at the woman wearing a baseball cap, who had now removed her mask.
Many members of the International Crochet Union had never seen Shirley in person. The competition's judges were changed every year to prevent bribery, so it was entirely possible that most had long forgotten what she looked like.
Heidi knew this well. She had found out that Shirley had only appeared publicly once, and given the time that had passed, it was likely that no one remembered her face. That was why she dared to impersonate Shirley so boldly.
Clutching the commemorative brooch, she stepped forward. As she passed Janice, she paused and raised her voice. "This woman has always been a fraud. Everyone in the domestic crochet industry knows it. To me, crochet is a classical and elegant craft meant to preserve culture. It shouldn't be tainted by
seamstresses who only know how to cut corners."
Someone questioned her, "Do you have any proof?"
Just then, another voice rang out from the audience. "I can prove it!"
All eyes turned to see a man removing his mark, revealing a sharp, well-defined face. It was Simon Fitzgerald!
Janice smiled. These two really couldn't let her have a moment of peace.
"I'm her ex-boyfriend. We were together for seven years, and no one knows her better than I do. She never won first place in even a quarterly competition, yet suddenly, her crochet skills advanced overnight?
"I'm also an crocheter, and I despise people who buy their works to win awards. It's unfair to those who put in the effort and dedication."
The crowd erupted in shock.
Had Janice really bought someone else's work and claimed it as her own?
Some competing companies immediately protested, saying, "This is unacceptable!"
"Exactly!"
Scornful eyes turned toward Janice.
Seeing her plan succeed, Heidi
pressed on, saying, "I even brought some of her past works for comparison. Everyone here is in the industry, so you all know it's impossible for a seamstress to improve so drastically in such a short time. See for yourselves!"
Heidi displayed two photographs. One was a crochet piece Janice had completed before breaking up with Simon, and the other was Ode to the Lunar Castle.noveldrama
The difference was obvious, even at a glance.
People crowded around to examine them, and before long, they were whispering and pointing at Janice.
The seamstress who had come in second wasted no time approaching the International Crochet Union. "If she bought this piece, her results should be annulled!"
That way, she would be declared the winner and wouldn't have to return the money Onley Group had paid her.
Louis, however, remained composed.
He certainly wanted Onley Group's seamstress to take the top spot, but this woman was impersonating Shirley Olson... Was she really sent by Shirley, or was she an outsider?
Seeing how confidently Heidi presented herself, showing no fear of being exposed, Louis suspected she must have some connection to Shirley.
Shirley had once rejected Onley Group and disappeared. Now that Onley Group was about to establish themselves in Cruznia, the last they needed was a damaged reputation in a new market. Shirley, being from Cruznia, could easily ruin them with just a few well-placed words. What if she was already spreading rumors behind their backs?
Just then, Celine stepped forward and asked Heidi, "Are you Ms. Shirley Olson?"
What do you think?
