Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

Chapter 1259

Debra, stepping out of her room to find Marion, paused as she passed by the guest room.

Standing there was William, shaking his head.

"What's wrong? Is it serious?" she asked.

William let out a deep breath.

Debra grew even more anxious. "Is it so bad that even you can't fix him?"

Drake had seemed so energetic earlier. It might have been his final burst of strength.

"It's not like that. I just think Drake's had it rough."

"Why?"

William glanced at the unconscious man on the bed. "He was cursed to meet someone like Marion."

With doubt in mind, Debra stepped into the room and spotted Marion sitting casually by the bed.

She asked, "Did you do something to Drake?"

"Nothing much," Marion replied, glancing at Drake. "William came up with a way to keep him in bed for a while. That's all."noveldrama

"Huh?" Debra walked to the bed and saw Drake's lifeless face. "You had William stab him?"

"No."

"You had him knocked out?"

"I did that myself."

"You must have exerted a lot of strength."

Debra couldn't wrap her head around it. Even if Marion wanted to settle a personal grudge, there was no need to go this far.

"The mastermind wants Drake dead, and I'm leveraging it to our advantage, spreading some fake news," Marion explained.

Debra started to piece it together. "You mean you're tricking Ivan and those behind him into believing that Drake is dying. To provoke their next move?"

"Exactly." Marion leaned back and continued, "Remember when Drake wanted to talk to me alone? You asked what we discussed."

"I remember. You told me he said that K has been controlling the Lowe Group, using it as their cash cow."

"Right," Marion said. "Back when Drake took over the Lowe Group after his grandfather's death, he wanted to reform it. But then, he realized that different forces were entangled within the company. The Lowe Group had built a network of secrets by gathering dirt on other businesses. They even developed their own intelligence system. You've seen at those banquets and the casino how they drove people to ruin through gambling."

"Ralph fell into their trap back then," Debra said, her voice heavy.

"Yes," Marion said. "But their real target was your father. He was the head of your family, but he was cautious and upright. He never got involved in gambling, drugs, or anything shady. They couldn't get to him directly, so they targeted Ralph instead, hoping to use him to force your father to pay his debts or do something else."

Debra frowned, and Marion

continued, "Your father refused to

cover Ralph's debts and even

planned to kick him out of the family He wanted to show them that their efforts on Ralph were meaningless. It was a way to protect Ralph, but Ralph orchestrated that car accident."
