Chapter 1299
"No, I can't do this," Garland refused, running away from Debra.
He hid behind a sofa and stammered, "I didn't even have this kind of confidence when I was home, not to mention here."
"Do you want to save Liza or not?" Debra furrowed her brows. "You won't need to talk. I'll give you an earpiece."
"I've used it before. It's too easy to get caught," Garland blurted, then covered his mouth. "I need a little mental preparation."
"We're running out of time." Debra threw the suit jacket at him. "Change into this. In ten minutes, jump out of the window from the second floor."
"Jump out of the window?" Garland gasped.
Debra walked up to him. "You know we have spies in the house, right? We need to make Ivan believe you're Fermin."
Garland glanced at the suit jacket and thought about Liza. His resolve hardened. "Alright. I'll wear it."
As Debra came out of the room, Erica asked, "How did it go?"
Debra nodded. With Marion gone, they had to rely on themselves.
Jordan was now in control of the Lowe Group and wasn't afraid of them, but based on his earlier actions, he seemed to fear the Eaton family.
If they used that to their advantage, they could bring Liza back. If they waited too long, Jordan would likely use her as leverage to make a deal with the Eaton family.
"So, what do we do now?" Erica asked. "We have to prepare something."
Debra leaned in and whispered, "You're going to..."
Erica nodded. "I'll take care of it."
Debra went out and waited. Ten minutes passed, and Garland still hadn't shown up.
She furrowed her brows, unwilling to believe Garland messed up at such a critical moment.
Iwan saw the tension on her face and walked up to her.
"Mrs. Houston, are you waiting for someone?"noveldrama
"Yes."
"If it's fine, I can go with you to bring Miss Eaton back."
"I don't think I mentioned Liza being taken, did I?"
Iwan quickly lowered his head. "I just noticed Miss Eaton didn't return with you, so I thought..."
Debra gave a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"Mr. Andrew Potter is very sick. You should be taking care of him at home. Just remember, no one should approach the second floor. After you're done with your work, go get some rest. We might be out late tonight."
"Understood."
Once Iwan walked away, a well-dressed man came up. When he looked up, his gold-rimmed glasses reflected a cold glint. His smile was faint and chilling.
What do you think?
