My coldhearted ex demands a remarriage

Chapter 816

Chapter 816:

Daxton stored the groceries in the fridge, filling the once-empty space. Carrie looked at the open door behind him and reminded him, “Close the door and switch your shoes.”

“Wait, there’s more.” Daxton turned and brought in two more boxes.

Carrie’s eyes brightened.

They were cases of cola and fruit juice.

“You carried these all by yourself?” she exclaimed in surprise.

Daxton shut the door, changed his shoes, and responded with a smile, “How could I? I had them delivered. You probably didn’t hear them knocking.”

He entered the kitchen, sanitized his hands, and came out with the plates.

“What a feast! I’m really in for a treat today.”

Carrie took a seat at the table. Daxton pulled a small box from his pocket, set it in front of her, and whispered, “This is for you.”

“You’re only here for a few days. You didn’t need to get me anything. Please, take it back,” Carrie said, sliding the box back towards him.

Daxton pushed the box back into her hands with gentle firmness.noveldrama

“It’s nothing pricey, just an eye spray. You’re at your computer all the time, your eyes must be tired.”

Carrie opened the box and, sure enough, found a small spray bottle inside.

She frowned, clearly hesitant.

“Eye spray? Oh no, I can’t stand eye drops.”

Ever since she was young, Carrie had hated eye drops.

The process always involved prying her eyelids open while her eyes reflexively shut. It often took multiple attempts to succeed. Once the drops were in, they felt chilling and sharp, causing her to tear up uncontrollably.

Daxton chuckled.

“I know you dislike eye drops.

This isn’t something you drop into your eyes.”

Carrie looked skeptical.

“Then how do you use it without dropping it in?”

“Just close your eyes,” instructed Daxton, standing and moving closer to her.

Carrie eyed him with a trace of suspicion.

He offered a half-smile.

“What do you think I’m going to do, drop something on your closed lids?”

That seemed reasonable to Carrie. He obviously couldn’t administer drops that way.

She closed her eyes and unexpectedly tilted her head back.

As Daxton leaned down, her sudden movement brought their faces close, within inches of each other.
