Chapter 899
"Come with me. I know where the gift is."
She stood up and walked forward, but she was quickly hugged from behind.
William embraced her from the back, holding her tightly.
Alice stood there motionlessly, allowing William to hug her. He didn't let go as he lowered his head to rest on her shoulder.
"Alright, let's go."
Alice patted his arm to struggle free, but William held her tighter and tighter, and said softly, "Hold on a little longer."
"Aren't you looking for a gift? Hurry up, it's getting dark."
Alice said.
"Just hug me."
William's tone was low and overbearing.
"Fine."
Alice compromised and let William hug her. The wind blew bit by bit, and the multicolored light fell upon them, covering them in a faint layer of velvet.
William hugged her for a long time, only when Alice said that her legs were a little numb did he let go.
Under the setting sun, she took William to the roadside they walked by, pointing to the pile of old wood on the ground, said, "I told you before, there used to be a canteen here. I liked to come here to buy candy after I saved up some money."
William kicked away a piece of wood with a look of disdain. Hearing this, he looked at her in disbelief, "You even saved up money to buy candy?"
He did not understand Alice's past life.
"How old was I back then? Of course I had to save up money to buy the candies. Do you think everybody is a tycoon like you?" Alice said.
"I'm not a tycoon."
William made a gesture from behind, and a bodyguard immediately rushed forward, then he said coldly, "Buy me several boxes of cellophane."
"I don't like that stuff anymore." Alice muttered, "Furthermore, you don't understand that only the hard-won candy wrapper is precious but the casually obtained one is not."
Candy wrapper and cartoon cards were the same.
William stared at her and blurted out, "Then isn't it too easy for you to get me?" It was all his own doing.
Hearing this, the bodyguard at the side did his best to suppress his laughter. Alice looked at William speechlessly, then turned her eyes to the surroundings and said, "This is where the gift might have been hidden according to Patrick's suggestion. Before, you already searched for the old house, but didn't find any extra metal boxes.
William raised his eyebrows, "You still have some reasoning."
"Thank you for your compliment." Alice said, and was immediately troubled, "But
in this place, where will the gift be? Even the canteen is gone."
"Dig deeper."
William glanced at the bodyguard at the side.
"Yes, Mr. Cullen."
A group of bodyguards who looking for gifts were already used to it. Hearing the order, they waved their sleeves and started digging, while Alice stood by the side and looked at the pile of broken down wood.
Very quickly, a piece of land was disfigured.
Just like the memories of her childhood, they had already changed in the passage of time. They had become mildewed and white. She could not bear to think about them, because she could also think about the unhappy events that happened afterwards every time she thought about them.
The color of the setting sun slowly faded.noveldrama
The bodyguards hung lights under the trees.
Alice was pulled to the side by William, causing dust to fly everywhere, while some bodyguards pushed away the rotten wood and said, "Mr. Cullen, could it be that it wasn't buried underground, but was just consigned here? Now that the canteen is closed, the things inside are also gone missing."
That sounds reasonable.
Alice thought, but heard William say confidently, "Impossible." "Why?"
Alice immediately asked.
William looked down at her, "What, you don't know about it?"
"What should I know?"
"Patrick's gifts are all arranged in places that can be hidden without informing others. This means that he is not good at socializing and
he would definitely not spread the news of hiding gifts."
William said in a low voice. Alice suddenly understood, yes, this was indeed Patrick's personality back then. He was blind, stiff and unsociable.
She almost forgot that. He knew Patrick better than she did.
She stood beside William and looked at the pile of wood. After staring for a long time, she vaguely felt that the canteen had once again appeared in front of her.
At that time, she would often bring Patrick along to buy candy. After buying all of them, she would give the candy to Patrick to eat, and then cover her eyes with a piece of candy wrapper to look at the sunlight.
Patrick would stand in front of her, blocking her view without knowing, and say, "Alice, what are you looking at?"
"There's a river behind you. If you don't walk away, you'll fall."
Then, she saw Patrick anxiously jumping away, with a hint of panic on his face, so
she would smile and continued to use her cellophane to look at the sunlight.
On the other side, the light of the cellophane was truly beautiful.
It was a color that even a paintbrush could not paint, and it was a rare and affordable spiritual enjoyment for her at the time.
Alice's eyes suddenly moved, looking down at the river, the afterglow of the sunset was flowing freely on the surface, could it be that...
She walked down the slope and was grabbed by William. He stared at her nervously, "What are you doing?"
"The gift might be over there."
Alice said, and continued walking down.
This time, William did not stop her, but still tightly held her hand and let her down,
little by little. When they came near the river, she found a place where she remembered and stamped her foot on it.
Before she said anything, William spoke out loudly, "Come, dig here."

Alice looked at William. He understood her too well.
This one was not a deep dig, after digging around ten times, a bodyguard found a metal box then he patted off the dust and handed it to William.
Alice looked at the metal box, it was obviously much better than the first one, even the advertising design had been updated. She was startled, "I remember this chocolate box was modified very recently, it was not like this at the start."
William looked at her with his black eyes and said solemnly, "That can only mean one thing. This man didn't finish giving you gifts in a single time period, but rather in a few years."
"Years?"
Alice was stunned, had he spent years of effort to send her presents? Then why not let her find? She didn't even know.
"Maybe he wants to tell you after the twelve palaces of gifts have all been prepared. There's a series of gifts from the second palace and so on." William said in a sour tone as he reached out to open the box.
The old tin box was very hard to open.
"So that's how it is."
Alice finally understood, but from start to finish, Patrick had never told her about more than one present. There were also the second and third palaces. Is this a sign that he has not prepared all the gifts?
Destined.
For some reason, Alice thought of this word.
The iron box was opened, and inside was a comic book. William casually flipped
to the title page, and saw a few big words.
Alice was stunned, her hands couldn't help but cover her upper lip, and her eyelashes trembled slightly.
William looked at her, his black eyes becoming darker, "The autograph of your beloved cartoonist?"
He could guess by the way she looked.
Alice nodded, she really liked this cartoonist, and had even vowed to become his kind of person. This cartoonist was famous throughout the world, and his books were even hard to find, yet Patrick actually helped her get the autograph of him.
"Getting moved?" William cast a glance at her, and said in a cold voice, "If you are moved, then stand at the side. Don't look, because I'm going to burn up soon."
Alice looked at Patrick, speechless.
William handed the metal box over to the bodyguard and unfolded the letter inside.
Alice stood at the side and watched. At this time, Patrick didn't need to write a single word on a piece of paper, he could write a few words clearly. The words weren't as sloppy as before, but it was obvious that writing between the lines was very tiring.
"Alice, I finally get Miyamoto's autograph, and I asked him to write your name in Japanese. There are only three gifts left, I have to think carefully about what to prepare for you, and they must be the ones that will move you the most."
Just because he wanted to prepare a twelve palaces of presents for her, he had prepared it for a few years and spent all his energy.
And then, even he forgot about it.
"Move back, I'm going to burn it."
William's cold and emotionless voice poured into Alice's ears, causing her feel a
little coldness.
She didn't say anything, and continued to back away silently, watching William
burn the gift Patrick prepared for her, and the signature letter of her beloved cartoonist.
The night came.
William stood in the darkness of the night, the flames reflecting his red face. He stared coldly at the burning book in his hands, the thin lip drawing a curve making him look like a demon, but also like a child who was messing around.
This time, she had personally found Patrick's gift for William to burn.
She was the demon, she thought.
Alice looked at his evil looking face and the burning comic book, then slowly
lowered her eyes and turned, walking out step by step.
"Where're you heading?"
William's cold voice came out.
She didn't want to continue watching, could she? The more information she knew about the gifts, the more she recalled how diligent Patrick had been towards her
and how happy they were at that time.
She wanted to get away.
"Now that we know the message for the next gift, I'll look for it now. Let's get everything tonight."
Alice said indifferently. She walked forward, leaving the burning flames and her burning memories.
As William stood there, he threw the burning comic book into the box and turned
to look at Alice. The light in his eyes became deeper and deeper, and he did not
chase after her but asked the people beside him, "Have you filmed it?" "Yes."
The bodyguard said as he held his phone.
"I'll continue to look for gifts. Send them to Patrick's email." William said coldly,
then he quickly caught up to Alice.
What do you think?
