Chapter 1063
Lucius was sitting next to Serenity, who, for some reason even he didn't understand, was clinging to his hand so tightly that he could practically feel her contractions himself.
That morning, when he woke up, he never would've imagined he'd be living a moment like this-much less with her.
"Brayson! How much longer till we get to the hospital?! Oh my God! Damn it! It huuuurts!" Serenity screamed, trying her best to stay strong.
"I'm sorry, ma'am! I'm going as fast as I can! Looks like there's an accident ahead -traffic's crawling and we can't get off this highway."
"Damn it! Aaaahhh! It hurts..." Serenity groaned, still holding on tightly to Lucius's hand.
"Please... can you call my mom and put her on speaker?" Serenity asked, on the verge of tears.
"Yes, ma'am..." Brayson answered, worried, glancing in the rearview mirror at the girl clearly in pain.
"Serenity? Sweetie?" Valerie answered, playing with Alberto at the time.
"Mommy!" Serenity cried, panicked.
"Serenity? What's going on, sweetie? Talk to me!" Valerie shouted, instantly alarmed by her daughter's voice.
"The baby...! Mom, the baby's coming...! And we're stuck, we can't get to the hospital... Aaaahhh! Mommy, mommy! What do I do? Tell me!" Serenity pleaded, both scared and desperate.
"My baby! My sweetheart! Stay calm, honey! Try to breathe, I'm calling your father right now and we're coming to find you..." Valerie said, clearly shaken.
"Nooo! Mommy! I don't think we're gonna make it to the hospital... I think the baby's going to be born in the truck," Serenity said, the contractions now coming faster and harder.
"What?! No! Serenity! Hold on... If you want, I'll carry you to the hospital myself, but don't do what I think you're about to do..." Lucius said, both terrified and stunned.
"Lucius, shut up and help meeee..." Serenity yelled, commanding. "Help me, I... I need help with my clothes... I don't think I'll make it to the hospital, so just help meee..."
"Lucius? Sweetheart? What are you doing with Lucius?" Valerie asked, shocked.
"Mommy...! It hurts soooo much...! What should I do?" Serenity cried, needing comfort—even if it was from a distance.
"What? What do you want me to do?" Lucius asked, already resigning himself to what was about to happen.
"Lucius...! Help her lie down in the seat!" Valerie urged, full of anguish. "We're on our way now... Serenity, does Alden know yet?"
"Nooo! God! Mom! I feel like pushing..." Serenity said, now lying back in the seat.
Lucius was positioned near her legs, more nervous than ever and trying to mentally prepare for what was coming.
"Serenity, breathe, try to breathe... okay? Can you do that? Hold on until we get there!" Lucius begged.
"Aahhhh! It's coming..." Serenity yelled, pushing with all her strength. "Lucius, help meee..." she cried, squeezing his hand.
"What? How? How do I help you? Tell me! What do I do?" Lucius asked, panicked and scared.
"Aaaah! Mommy!" Serenity screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Serenity, my little girl..." Marcus's voice came through the speaker. "Sweetheart, stay strong, you can do this... we're here for you... push, baby, push... We're calling Alden so he can get back to you right away."
"Here it comes again..." Serenity said, her voice laced with fear.
"Push, Serenity! Push!" Lucius encouraged, as she pushed silently, full of determination.
"Ahhhhh! Hhhhh! Lucius! Help meeee!" Serenity cried, clinging to her brother's hand.
"What do I do? How do I help you?" Lucius asked, staring at her, drenched in sweat and in pain.
"Hug me and help me push my baby..." Serenity said, remembering the scene with Alden and Laura.
"Alright, hold on, let me get behind you..." Lucius said, quickly moving to support her from behind.
"Okay, Lucius, when I tell you I'm ready to push, you help me press on my belly... Ugh... ugh... You okay, Lucius?" Serenity asked, surprisingly clear for a moment. "Obviously not, especially not with what I'm about to do..." he muttered, nervous. "My love... Serenity... Sweetheart, I'm here..." Alden's voice came through. Brayson had managed to get in touch with Alden and added him to the call so Mrs. Palmer could hear too.
"My love, I'm here, I'm on my way. My dad is driving me home. I'll see you both soon-you've got this, baby, I know you do..."
"Lucius..." Serenity said, furrowing her brow and pushing like her life depended on it.
That's when Lucius realized-it was time to help her.
"Aaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaah!" Serenity screamed, and finally-finally-the sound of a baby's cry filled the truck.
Serenity looked completely drained. Lucius carefully let go of her and moved to check on the baby, who hadn't fully come out yet.
"Come on, Serenity... just one more push... we're almost there..." Lucius said, holding the baby, nearly passing out from the shock of it all.
Serenity pushed again, and at last, the beautiful baby girl was born. Lucius, wearing a thin sweater, took it off and gently wrapped the tiny newborn in it.
"Welcome, Isabelle... You're with Mommy now..." Serenity whispered, kissing her baby's face and wiping it gently.
"Serenity, I'm sorry, I don't know what else I'm supposed to do..." Lucius said, dizzy, surprised, and exhausted.
"It's okay! She's here now, and it's

thanks to you. I'm a little tired, but I heard you're supposed to put the baby on your bare chest, so turn around) I'm gonna unbutton mỹ dress to hold her," Serenity said like a total mom.
"Okay, okay..." Lucius replied, looking away. "Brayson, how much longer till we get there?" he asked, still shaken.
"Not long, sir. We'll be at the hospital in ten minutes. Don't worry-everything's okay now."
"Serene!" Marcus said, still emotional.
"Yes, Dad, Mom, Alden-our little Isabelle is here now, and that's all that matters... Right, sweetheart?" Serenity said, gazing down at the baby in her arms.
Less than ten minutes later, the truck pulled into the hospital ER, and Lucius didn't waste a second. He jumped out, scooped up Serenity and the baby, and rushed inside.
That gesture nearly melted

"Me neither. Believe me, I won't forget it either..." Lucius replied, still a bit dazed.
