Chapter 1:.

“Miss Smith, you are pregnant.”

The doctor’s words were like a thunderclap, causing the sleepy Nora Smith’s eyes to snap open. “… What?”noveldrama

How could this be?

Even though she was nineteen years old, she had never been intimate with anyone of the opposite sex!

Nevertheless, the doctor handed her the medical report. “You are already in your fourth month of pregnancy. You are not in good health, so you will not be able to induce labor surgically. You can only choose to deliver the child.”

Nora returned home in a daze. After Nora’s father scolded her severely, he searched the surveillance cameras and discovered that it had indeed been four months since she had dutifully stayed at home due to her poor health, AND she had not gone out at all!

However, the outsiders didn’t believe it. Everyone secretly teased her:

“Her belly is already so big, and yet she keeps making excuses and saying she didn’t get lost with some man. The Gray’s are so pitiful, why do they have to be engaged to such a person?”

“She’s fat and ugly from the start, and her family background isn’t very good either. It was a lifelong blessing that she could move up the social ladder by having a connection to the Grays. Now that she has become pregnant before the wedding, surely the Grays will break off the engagement, won’t they?”

In the midst of all the speculation, Anthony Gray paid a visit to the Smiths.

By this time, Nora’s belly was already bulging. At eight months pregnant, her belly was big enough to cover her toes.

In the studio, Nora’s father cautiously asked, “Anthony, are you thinking of breaking off the engagement?”

Anthony gave an unexpected answer, “…No, my grandfather refuses!”

The Grays were a wealthy and powerful first-class family, while they, the Smiths, were only middle-class. Even if they took the opportunity to break off the engagement, no one could criticize the Grays for it. By refusing to break off the engagement, what were they looking for?

Cherry Smith’s big grape-like eyes blinked and she rested her chin on her hands. “Mom, did we go back to the States this time to look for Dad?”

Nora stretched and sat lazily in her comfortable business class seat. She said lightly, “You don’t have a father.”

Cherry sighed like an adult. “I’m not a three-year-old anymore. I’m not going to believe your nonsense – I don’t have a father? Surely I couldn’t have gotten out of a rock, could I?”

“…”

Nora didn’t answer, as she pulled her hair back to her shoulders. Her fair skin, sharp pointed nose, along with her rosy lips and graceful figure, made her a beautiful sight on the plane.

Cherry kept muttering dissatisfied, “If not to find Dad, is it to find my big brother?”.

Big brother…

A cold glint passed through Nora’s almond-shaped, downcast eyes.

That year she had given birth to a pair of twins, a boy and a girl. However, Nora’s father had disregarded her wishes and had forcibly abandoned the two children.

She had climbed down from the delivery bed and fought with all her might. Despite this, she only managed to save Cherry.

After that, she even went into critical condition. If her aunt had not hurried in time and taken her abroad to recover, she would probably have ceased to exist in the world.

It took five years before she recovered. Her obesity, caused by the misuse of hormones during her childhood, was also finally cured.

At first glance, her return to the United States was because the Grays had finally agreed to call off the engagement, so she had come to take care of business.

More important, however, was actually continuing to search for her son.

Half an hour later, the plane came to a complete stop.

Nora let Cherry sit on the suitcase. Then she walked while pushing the suitcase forward.

As soon as she turned on the phone, she got a call. On the other end of the line was a flippant but animated voice. “Anti, you need to be careful!” asked Nora nonchalantly, “Why?”

“Justin Hunt, America’s number one family boss, is currently collecting your personal information from all over the world. He probably won’t give up this time until he finds you.” The voice sounded a bit like its owner was gloating.

Nora said, “…Oh.”

“Anti, you were overseas before, and you weren’t in their territory, so you could have avoided it just fine. But now that you’re back, you won’t be able to escape anymore! As the most prestigious surgeon around, can’t you just treat her grandmother’s illness?

“I’ve heard that Justin Hunt is very generous, and he’s even such a handsome man that it’s hard to find one like him. Perhaps the two of you could even develop a romance that would make one sing and cry.”

Nora yawned lazily.

Family number one was a big family with a big business. Interpersonal relationships within it were complicated. Treating someone’s illness there might even end up involving the struggle for power and inheritance. Why would she get involved in the open and secret struggles of those rich and powerful A-listers?

She had returned to the United States to look for her son. She was not to cause any complications.

As she approached the exit, Nora suddenly saw a familiar figure in the arrivals lounge opposite. She responded dismissively, “I’m not lucky enough to enjoy such beauty.”

After hanging up, she put the phone in her pocket and looked down coldly.

He hadn’t expected to see an old acquaintance so soon.

A man stood prominently at the airport exit. He was wearing a suit and looked quite bright and cheerful. He looked a bit more mature than he had five years ago: it turned out to be her fiancé, Anthony Gray.

Holding a reception sign in his hand, he stood impatiently and grumbled, “When exactly is that damn fat lady coming out?”

Behind him, his butler said, “Mr. Gray, please be patient. The old master has specially ordered you to refrain from making things too ugly even if he calls off the engagement.”

Anthony frowned. He looked a little irritated. “Patience? Isn’t it rather disgust? She was so fat before; and, she must be even fatter after giving birth. She probably wants to save the engagement even more strongly now, doesn’t she? Why am I so unlucky to get entangled with someone like that?”

His words reached Nora’s ears, but she didn’t even blink.

Over the past five years, she had repeatedly brought up her desire to call off the engagement. Yet neither the Smiths nor the Greys had agreed. Who exactly was tangling with whom?

She couldn’t be bothered to pay any attention to the man and intended to leave immediately with Cherry.

After grumbling, Anthony turned around and his eyes lit up!

The beautiful woman, who was the first to leave the airport, was gorgeous and incredibly stunning. It was as if the entire airport lit up a little brighter the moment she appeared.

Seeing the woman getting closer and closer, Anthony straightened his back and straightened his luxurious suit. Then, he smiled and asked confidently, “Hello beautiful, may I ask your name?”.

He was the exact image of a male peacock with an open tail.

Nora stopped and gave him a cold look.

“Nora. Smith.”
