Chapter 1292
Chapter 1292:
Her smile faded as she asked, “Yes, but… Kellan, how do you know about that?”
Kellan let out a soft chuckle, his eyes tinged with the faintest trace of red.
“We used a suitcase to escape from danger back then. And I also said that if we really survived, I’d find you and be with you forever. But back then, in my foolish pride, I used Colton’s name instead of mine. I didn’t want you to be frightened by my disfigurement.” As Kellan spoke, his voice was low and hoarse.
“At the time, I was disfigured. After I took you away, I thought we’d never meet again. But somehow, I found my way back home. But then I came down with a fever for three whole days and lost all memory of being kidnapped. It wasn’t until today that everything came rushing back. Allison, I’m sorry.”
Allison’s eyes locked onto his. For a moment, her heartbeat drowned out the world around her.
She recalled the time when they’d been kidnapped, how she had briefly lost her sight. Reaching out, she had instinctively held his face. She had felt something—perhaps a scar—but she hadn’t thought much of it at the time.
Now, the truth hit her like a freight train. She had mistaken him after—
“It’s okay.”
Her throat tightened, and her nose tingled as tears threatened to fall.
She had never imagined that they’d lose so many years apart. And that suitcase from back then had already been smashed to pieces. Yet here they were, standing face to face again.
Her emotions were a whirlwind, and though words failed her, her eyes betrayed the flood of feelings she couldn’t express.
“At least now, we’ve found each other.”
But before they could savor the moment, the distant howling of wolves broke the silence.
Allison snapped to attention, her senses on high alert.
“No, this place is too dangerous.”
There was no time for reminiscing now—they had to find a way out of there.
The threat of wild animals loomed large in the dense, primal wilderness surrounding them.
“Allison, have you tried my phone?” Kellan grunted, struggling to sit up.
They quickly pulled on their dry clothes, brainstorming their next steps.
“I tried. It’s got a little power left, but no signal.”
Allison’s eyes scanned the vast expanse of trees in every direction. “The trees are so thick around us, and it’s hard to tell where we are. I think we need to get higher up to get a better view.”noveldrama
The towering trees made them feel like mere specks in this vast, untamed forest.
But as Allison shifted her leg, a sharp pain shot through her.
“Hiss—”
Kellan was immediately at her side, lifting her leg onto his lap.
