Chapter 1277
Chapter 1277:
The photos were taken so close-up that it was difficult to determine the location. Someone had sent her these deliberately. If she stayed calm, the person behind them would likely reveal their motives eventually.
“What’s wrong?” Bryan asked, stepping out of the bathroom and noticing Eileen’s intense focus on her phone.
Eileen shook her head, tucking her phone away. “Nothing. I’m famished. Let’s go eat.”
“Alright,” Bryan said, his eyes lingering on her face for a moment longer. He then swept her up in his arms, carrying her to the bathroom to freshen up.
Eileen’s long hair tumbled down, a few strands clinging to her damp cheeks. As she brushed her teeth, Bryan carefully gathered her hair and tied it. “The company’s almost through the worst of it,” he said. “I’m training a new assistant. You should take some time off and rest for a while.”
Eileen mumbled a reply, agreeing.
The truth was, she wasn’t in the mood to go to the company. Her feud with Amoura had escalated from simmering tension to all-out war. However, Javier’s sudden appearance had offered a temporary ceasefire.
Besides, her mind was elsewhere. She was thinking of Milford.
Eileen finished brushing her teeth and leaned against Bryan, her arm draped over his shoulder. “You take care of the company. I’ll handle everything else.”
Whether Bryan knew about Milford or not, she wasn’t going to pile more on his plate. Bryan was already very busy with work; the dark circles under his eyes were proof enough.

“Okay,” Bryan replied, assuming she meant taking care of Gabriela and the baby in her belly.
After breakfast, Bryan left for work. Eileen kept glancing at her phone, hoping for news about Milford, but there was nothing. She took a deep breath, trying to stay patient.
At the hospital, Milford sat patiently while the doctor cleaned his wounds with a cotton swab. His face twitched a bit because of the pain, but he didn’t make a sound or even frown.
“You’re lucky someone found you in time,” the doctor said. “A bit later, and you might not have survived. You’re too young to be getting into fights like this.”
Milford hadn’t expected those guys to jump him outside the club with backup. If they hadn’t, he wouldn’t be in such bad shape. Luckily, they just wanted to rough him up a bit. They had knocked him out and left him in an alley. He had almost been frozen to death when someone from the club found him and took him to the hospital.
“Thanks,” Milford said to the doctor. He got some meds for his wounds and then limped out of the hospital. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Ryann leading Adalina out, with Denzel trailing behind, carrying a backpack.
Milford quickly ducked into the crowd, watching Adalina. She looked upset, arguing with Ryann.
“Get in the car,” Ryann said. “If you keep talking like that in front of your father, I’m not gonna help you anymore.”
Adalina grumbled and climbed into the car. Ryann followed, saying, “Aaron’s gonna pick you up for school from now on. After what happened, I don’t want you walking alone. At least you’ll have someone accompany you now…”
The car pulled away. Milford emerged from the crowd and left.
