She knew Presley must have been watching Milford closely, perhaps even intending to use him as leverage to threaten her. She couldn’t directly help Milford, nor could she cause him any trouble.

“Don’t worry; I’ll manage these issues,” Phoebe said with a deep sigh. “You’re pregnant. If Bryan finds out you’re worried about Milford, he will be concerned for you.”

Eileen responded, “It’s not that serious. With this pregnancy, I’m eating, drinking, and sleeping well. If I don’t engage my mind and worry a little, I might become useless.”

Phoebe put her phone away. “By the way, I also invited Bailee, but she mentioned her mother-in-law has some tasks for her, so she might be running late.”

“She likely won’t make it,” Eileen said as she checked the time, noting it was nearly nine in the evening. They needed to be home by ten. Bailee lived a good distance away, and there wouldn’t be enough time for her to come here now.
