Chapter 1347
Chapter 1347:
“Sounds like a plan,” Bryan replied.
Leyla’s room was situated at the far end of the hallway, bathed in the warm glow of afternoon sunlight that embraced Eileen as she walked toward it.
Balancing a plate of fruit in her hands, Eileen approached the door, but before she could even raise her hand to knock, it swung open. Leyla waved her inside urgently.
“What happened?” Eileen asked, unable to contain her curiosity. “Did you and Stella have a fight? I thought you were going to win her over.”
“Relax, we’re just testing each other,” Leyla reassured Eileen, pulling her down onto the bed. “That old woman is stubborn as a mule, but I’ll get her in line.” She paused, her expression turning serious. “Listen, I’ve got this figured out. If I don’t straighten out her attitude now, you’re going to have a hell of a time with her later. She only cares about Bryan and the Dawson family now. You won’t stand a chance.”
Leyla had spent a lot of time observing Stella, studying her every move and reaction.
She knew that if Stella wasn’t happy, she wouldn’t hesitate to make Eileen’s life difficult.
As Eileen’s grandmother, Leyla felt a responsibility to pave the way for her granddaughter.
“Look, I can handle whatever Stella throws my way. It can’t be any worse than the stress you’re putting yourself through right now. You don’t have to do this for me.” Eileen just wanted Leyla to enjoy their time together.
“I’m not stressing,” Leyla reassured her with a confident nod. “Just strategizing a bit. Don’t sweat it; I’m not going to cause any drama or fight. We’re cool.”

“If you’re not fighting, then why the long face?” Eileen asked, pouting. “You both left home all smiles, but now, you seem angry.”
Leyla said, “Well, we went to watch some dancing, and we both kind of took a liking to the same guy. Then—”
“Hold up!” Eileen exclaimed, eyes wide. “Grandma, do you even hear yourself right now?”
“It’s not like that!” Leyla laughed. “There were these two guys in the dance troupe playing instruments. We both thought the same one was kinda cute, and since I’m a bit more, you know, forward, he ended up chatting with me more. Stella got a bit jealous, I guess.”
Leyla explained how it was just harmless appreciation and a bit of a chat, nothing more, but Stella seemed to have taken it personally.
Noticing Eileen’s bewildered expression, Leyla quickly added, “Don’t worry; she wasn’t being mean or anything. She just wanted to prove a point—that women who are too forward and assertive don’t get the guy. She’s hoping I’ll butt out of your business from now on.”
Eileen felt completely out of her depth, unable to grasp Leyla’s and Stella’s moves.
She listened intently, her forehead creased in concentration one moment, then smoothing out the next.
She couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the people in the dance troupe, caught in the crossfire of this strange power struggle.
