Chapter 226
Chapter 226:
“What do we do?” Layla whimpered. Her usual sass was nowhere to be found.
“I don’t know, Layla,” I admitted shakily. I really didn’t.
The cup pressed harder against my lips, but I clamped them shut in defiance.
“It’s either we do this the easy way, or we do it my way,” the bald one snapped. “And trust me, you’ve already pissed me off. Which way’s it gonna be?”
“The hard way,” I spat, fire flashing in my eyes.
“Fine,” he sneered. His thick fingers clamped down on my jaw, forcing my mouth open. Pain shot through my skull as he pried it apart. The liquid spilled into my mouth.
I refused to swallow, holding it on my tongue despite the urge to gag.
“Oh, you’re stubborn,” he mocked, his voice dripping with malice. Without warning, he pinched my nose shut.
Instinct betrayed me. My throat worked involuntarily, swallowing the liquid.
Layla fell silent. Completely, horrifyingly silent.
I sobbed, the weight of what had happened crashing over me.
Heavy, endless tears streamed down my face as my world dissolved into darkness.
They’d taken my wolf. Again.
Jasmine’s POV
She’s gone. Layla was gone. That was the last thought that swam through my mind before I passed out. I woke up to a pain in my chest that made me wince with every breath.
My lips remained slightly parted as I slowly blinked. My vision was still a hazy blur. The strange stiffness of my arms and ankles made me realize I was tied up—bound tightly.
Layla’s absence left a part of me aching and empty. My wolf was gone, and I was once again left wolfless. The void in my heart was slowly filled with a consuming anger that made me struggle against my restraints, even though I knew there was no way I could free myself.
“Fucking arseholes. Fucking bastards,” I cursed under my breath, pushing my body back until my back rested against the cool wall.

My hair fell over my face, almost blocking my vision. I jerked my head back, and some of it tumbled down my back. A pair of shoes just a few inches away caught my attention. I froze mid-movement. I knew those shoes. They were Jason’s…
“Jason?” My eyes traveled up to meet his blank gaze. Was I hallucinating? People did things like that in these types of conditions, right? I blinked hard—once, twice, then thrice… It really was him.
Was he the one behind my kidnapping? Why would he be here? But what could possibly be his reason? Maybe he was here to rescue me. Yes, that was it. Thank goodness he was here. Who knows what else those monsters would have done to me?
“Jason,” I whispered breathlessly. “I don’t know how long I’ve been here, I was kidnapped…” The words spilled out of my mouth—a desperate plea for help.
Jason nodded. “I know. That’s why I’m here.” He made no move to speak further, but I was relieved to know that he was going to take me and my baby out of this hellhole. I smelled like my own sweat, and my joints felt sticky. Hell, I couldn’t even remember the last time I ate… But none of that mattered. He was rescuing me. A flood of relief washed over me, and I found myself feeling comfortable despite the discomfort around me.
The chair made a creaking sound as it scraped against the floor. Jason walked down to me with steady, patient steps. I wished he’d act quicker—my captors could return at any moment.
His broad palms traced the outline of my jaw before he tilted my face. “I helped you by bringing you here. Don’t get my words mixed up in that brain of yours,” he whispered into my ear.
My mouth hung open as I stared at him accusingly. I had a thousand insults to hurl at him, but the words refused to come out. I wasn’t even sure I could speak. He orchestrated my kidnapping? What the hell? Why would he even do that? To think I’d called him my brother all these years when he was nothing but pure evil. This was the type of reality I couldn’t believe, and if I was being honest, I didn’t want to believe him.
