Chapter 66:

“You will stay in this room.” Hayden opened the door to a room, “I told Alayna and she said it’s okay for you to stay here.”

“Alayna is a gentlewoman. Of course, she’ll help you.” Freddie tilted his head to look into the room and nodded in satisfaction.

“Don’t take advantage of the situation. Move quickly once you’ve found a place for yourself. This is not my home and it is inappropriate for you to continue to stay here.”

“Understood.” Freddie slung his arm over her shoulder, “Sis, what are we having for lunch tonight?”

“Noodles!”

“I love noodles cooked by you!”.

Stella was enjoying the chocolates Freddie brought for her from overseas. After her door was opened, she just sat on the carpet listening to the noises outside as she thought about Mr. Beckham’s reaction in the Kindergarten. Her big eyes began to roll.

Mom and Mr. Beckham were living together for so long and there was no progress. It seemed like she had to cheer them up!

The next day, Hayden went vegetable shopping at the market. Since Freddie was back, he needed to give him a proper welcome. Just as he was leaving, the doorbell rang.

Freddie went to open the door and asked, “Did you forget something?”

“You are?” Joseph grabbed Noah’s hand and stood by the door.

Noah threw an early morning tantrum saying he wanted to eat at Hayden’s. But when he arrived, he didn’t expect Freddie to be there and his expression immediately changed.

Freddie thought and realized with a clap of his hands, “I saw you at the Kindergarten yesterday. You must be Stella’s friend’s father! Do you live here, too?”

“Mr. Beckham!” Stella’s voice came from inside the house, “Noah, you’re here too.”

She ran out with the stamping of her feet and said, “Freddie, Mr. Beckham is Mom’s boss and also her good friend, Noah is my partner. They often come here for lunch.”

“Oh, okay.” Freddie laughed and turned away, “Come in, don’t stand in the door.”

He acted like he was the man of the house.

Noah frowned and stared at him.

Freddie didn’t notice the little guy and smiled at Joseph. “Hayden came back to the country not long ago and doesn’t have many friends. I’ve heard about how complicated it is to get into the ST Group. You must be taking very good care of her.”

“She’s very capable.” Joseph responded and asked, “What’s your relationship with Hayden? I heard Stella call you uncle yesterday.” But he didn’t know that the Downey Family had a son.

“Yes.” Freddie raised his eyebrows, “I’m adopted by Hayden. I’m considered his half-brother, but we’re not related. More accurately, I’m his future boyfriend. She’s raising me to be her husband.”

Joseph has lived thirty years and never seen a man label himself as such and with that tone.

“You’re very funny.” Joseph said simply.

“Funny?” Freddie looked at him, “You think I’m kidding? I’m telling the truth. In any case, Hayden will be my girlfriend soon. Ask Stella if you don’t believe me.”

Three pairs of eyes looked up at Stella.

Stella was stunned for a moment and then nodded, “Yes, Mom and Freddie are very close friends! It would be great if Freddie became my dad.”

Joseph felt a lump in his throat at this and replied, “Your mommy is so funny. She already has a daughter and yet she goes for a younger man? I hadn’t really noticed this side of her.”

“Society evolves. Hayden and I are only two steps away from being together.” Freddie laughed and looked towards Joseph cautiously, “Have a seat, I’ll get you something to drink.”

Freddie said as he headed for the kitchen. This Joseph looked like a formidable opponent, he thought.

At the other end, Stella led Noah into the room and said, “Noah, take a look at my interlocking toy, I can’t undo the knots.”

Noah stood to the side, folded his arms and ignored her. He looked annoyed.

“Noah.” Stella looked at him and scratched her head, “What’s the matter with you?”

Noah got even angrier at her indifference. He took a board and wrote, “[My dad is rich and handsome, how can you change your mind! I won’t talk to you anymore].”

Stella looked at the board for a while and continued without understanding, “What, I don’t know so many words, Noah.”

Noah took a deep breath and wrote and drew on the board before handing it to her.

On the left was a man in a suit holding hands with a long-haired woman. Each was holding a small child. On the right was a man in a tracksuit and a long-haired woman with a child between them.

Noah pointed at the drawing and then at Stella as he became angry.

Stella noticed and asked, “Are you saying I didn’t keep our deal?”

Noah nodded.

They had agreed to find a way for their parents to be reunited so they could become a family. How come they changed their minds as soon as a handsome man showed up? Women!

“Haha.” Stella suddenly laughed, “You believed it! That means my acting skills are pretty good.”

Noah frowned and didn’t understand.

“Aren’t you worried that my mommy and your daddy won’t make any progress after all this time?” Stella sat down on the rug and explained, “I’m just pretending! Grandpa told me that only when there’s competition will there be pressure. Since Freddie is back, that will put pressure on Mr. Beckham. So he’ll think about whether he wants to be closer to my mother.”

Noah still didn’t believe her.

“Look at the way your father looked at Freddie, it obviously didn’t seem natural!”. Stella tugged Noah’s sleeve and said cheerfully.

“That’s why I feel like Mr. Beckham has definitely liked my mommy for a long time. Let’s keep trying hard.”

Hearing this, Noah thought about his father’s reactions and was reassured. It sounded logical. Dad usually didn’t even like to smile-how could he actively pursue a woman? If there was no pressure, maybe he didn’t even know what to do!

Noah looked at Stella and nodded enthusiastically as he thought about this.

Hayden finally returned with the groceries. And he saw the two men sitting on the couch as soon as he opened the door. Aside from Stella’s occasional giggles, the house was pretty quiet.

What’s going on?

Seeing her, Freddie stood up and said, “You’re back!” Then he quickly reached over to take the bags from her hands, “I’m carrying lame.”

Joseph also got up from the couch.

Hayden put his wallet on the floor and asked, “Why are you here?”.

Joseph calmly replied, “Noah wanted to come, so I brought him here.”

“Noah’s here too?” Hayden looked into the room and said, “I bought some vegetables and there’s enough for everyone, stay for lunch.”

Freddie’s expression changed.
