Chapter 768
Hendrix hadn't planned on telling Noelle all of this. As the doctor had said, once the blood clot dissipated, she might remember everything on her own. So, he didn't want to push her.
And if she never remembered, that was fine, too. He had come to think that staying here for a while longer might not be a bad idea because Noelle could get the maternal love she had always longed for from Irene.
As for their relationship... Well, it had been an arranged marriage from the start. The moment she was of age, they had wed without hesitation. Even their first kiss had happened during their wedding photoshoot.
So Hendrix thought, if she had forgotten all of that, he could just court her again. It would be a chance to make up for the romance they had missed out on before.
But now, he had no choice but to tell her. He had finally found her, and it would be the biggest joke of all if she ended up marrying someone else because of what others said. There was no way he would ever allow that to happen.
After Hendrix finished speaking, Noelle didn't react the way he had expected.
In all those cliché movies, amnesiacs always got a headache when someone mentioned their past. But Noelle felt nothing at all. She just stared at Hendrix with wide eyes, looking completely shocked.
Worried that she wouldn't believe him, Hendrix continued, "You have a scar on your lower abdomen, about two inches long. It's from when you gave birth to Rosie.
"On the inside of your left thigh, there's a red mole. You also have a dimple on your lower back. Oh, and besides the mole on your left thigh, there's another one on your right bre—"
Before Hendrix could finish, Noelle suddenly reached out and covered his mouth, silencing him.
Once she was sure he wouldn't keep talking, Noelle asked through gritted teeth, "H-How do you know all that?"
"You're my wife. Is there any part of you I don't know?" Hendrix countered.noveldrama
This left Noelle speechless.
"If you don't believe me, I have photos of us on my phone."
Noelle remained silent. She didn't ask Hendrix to show her the photos, but she didn't refute his words, either. After all, it made sense. She had only forgotten parts of her
past it wasn't as if she had become stupid.
She might have sensed something off about her identity as Nelly that day at the police station, which was why she had been so cooperative when Hendrix took her to the
hospital afterward.
It was just that Hendrix had never brought it up again, and she had never asked.
"Do you believe me?" Hendrix asked her again.
Noelle looked up at him for a long moment, then asked, "Then, how did I end up here?"
"I want to know that, too. I searched for you for a long time after you went
missing." When he spoke about that time, his voice grew even lower. "I thought I'd never see you again."
"Then, why don't you take me back now?"
"Would you be willing to go with me if I do that?"
Noelle fell silent. She had no memory of the things Hendrix had mentioned. She knew she wasn't Nelly—that much was clear. But the name "Noelle" was just as unfamiliar to her.
Everything he said felt like it
belonged to another world. Here, at least, she had a mother who loved and protected her. But in the other world? She would have to face a whole group of strangers.
The thought alone filled Noelle with an inexplicable fear.
What do you think?
