Unforgettable love

Chapter 28

Chapter 28:

Sampson’s hand froze in mid-air. Money couldn’t make him happy.

Dolores opened and closed her mouth, speechless. She couldn’t utter the question, ‘Is Maria, the one your mother just mentioned, your girlfriend?’ But Sampson seemed not to want others to bring up this subject.

So he didn’t ask the question.

Sampson raised his head and found the imprint of five fingers on his face. He furrowed his eyebrows and asked ruefully, ‘Who planned this?’

Dolores had no idea about it, but she guessed it might be Helen, since she was the biggest threat to that woman. Helen was afraid that she was intimate with Matthew.

“I have no proof.” This was only her guess and could not be considered the definitive answer.

Sampson reached out, intending to lash out at her face, but Dolores unconsciously dodged backward. Having missed her face, Sampson felt a little disappointed inside, but pretended to be annoyed on the surface, “What, I can’t touch your face?”

Dolores didn’t mean to dodge his touch, she just subconsciously disliked the touch of males.

Sampson smoothed her hair, “Lola, you were feeling shy a moment ago.” Then his face darkened, “The wounds on your knees…”

Although her bones weren’t hurt, the superficial wounds were quite serious.

“Try to bear it.” He was cleaning the wounds and now they needed to be bandaged. She would feel pain when he applied the medicines to them.

Dolores nodded. When Sampson was cleaning her wounds, it was quite painful for her, but she would just grit her teeth to endure the sharp pain because she already knew that for some kinds of pain, no one could substitute for her to endure it.

No one would pity her.

She could only afford to be stoic.

“It’s okay.” She curved her lips into a straight line.

Sampson looked at her for two seconds and tried to amuse her, “If you can’t take it, you can bite my arm.”

Dolores smiled cooperatively, but felt a heavy stone in her heart. Since Helen’s plan had been foiled this time, she wondered if Helen would have other plans from then on.

Dolores suddenly found herself with nothing.

How could she fight Helen?

Sampson was applying medicine to her wounds with his head down, so he didn’t notice her strange expression. Fearing she might be in pain, he tried to distract her by talking to her, “Don’t worry, this medicine won’t affect the baby you’re carrying.” Dolores nodded.

Sampson was deep in thought.

He stroked his belly. This child could be the greatest comfort to her for the moment.

The baby was safe.

Her belly didn’t hurt and she didn’t feel uncomfortable.

Her baby was brave and strong.

“Rest here tonight.” After bandaging her wounds, Sampson lifted her head and found sweat on her forehead, “Tell me when you need my help. We are close friends like brother and sister after all.”

Dolores nodded. Her biggest concern now was to find out if what happened tonight had been planned by Helen White.

Now that she also worked at the company and her job title was fairly close to Helen’s, it was in her best interest to look into it.

Sampson stood up, went to the washroom and then fetched a basin of water to wipe the sweat and cold compress from his face.

“Who have you offended?” asked Sampson. Judging by his swollen face, the person he had offended was indeed cruel.

Dolores pondered for a while before replying, “I have no proof. But I suppose it must have been Helen White, Matthew’s girlfriend. She seems to hold a grudge and resentment against me for marrying Matthew.”

Sampson was upset at the thought of Dolores’ marriage to Matthew. Luckily, they would be divorced a month later. “Let me take care of you in the future.”

When Dolores divorced Matthew, she confessed her feelings to him.

He would take care of her in the future and not let them hurt her anymore.

Dolores did not hear him clearly and answered with a nasal sound.

She did not return and stayed in the villa all night, since, on the one hand, she was not familiar with this region, and on the other hand, today she had experienced that exciting thing.

She got up early in the morning as she was quite restless in her sleep.

Sampson was considerate enough to buy her new clothes, as the one she wore yesterday was torn.

“It’s a dress. Your legs hurt and you don’t want to wear pants.” Sampson handed her the dress.noveldrama

If she wore pants, it would chafe her wounds.

The dress was long enough to cover her knees.

Except for her mother, Sampson was the one who treated her best. But she felt stressed at such kindness, for she didn’t know how to return it. “Why are you so nice to me?” she asked in a husky voice.

Sampson smiled with studied nonchalance, “Silly, we are good friends as brother and sister. Isn’t it my duty to take care of you? Don’t be so polite to me.”

After finishing the words, he reached up to stroke her nose, “You’re going to be a mother, are you still going to cry in front of me?”

Dolores sniffed, smiled at him and walked into the room with the dress in her hands. Then she took off her bathrobe and put on the dress.

After breakfast, Sampson sent her back.

“Go to Golden Bay.” Since there was still time left, she had to get back to her parents’ house. With the Repulse Bay development rights, signed over by Matthew, she would have a chip to trade with Randolph.

He had to get those things back. Only with money could he fight off those who wanted to set him up.

Although the amount of money was not much, at least he could solve his most urgent problem.

Besides, he had borrowed money from Sampson. Although he told her not to pay him back, she was determined to repay the debt.

Sampson turned around and the car headed toward Golden Bay.

The car soon stopped.

Dolores got out of the car. Although she could still walk, she felt a sharp pain in her knees with every step. She endured the pain and walked to the courtyard.

In the house, the maids were preparing breakfast and the others seemed not to have woken up.

“Should I go wake up…?”

“No need.” Dolores interrupted the maid.

She had once lived in this place. Last time, she came and left in a hurry, she didn’t have time to enter the room she had once been in. Although her memories of this place were not so pleasant, this was the place where she had stayed during her childhood after all.

She had some feelings for this place.

Dolores went up to the second floor and went to the room she once lived in to take a look around, but discovered that there were some sounds inside the room. She gently pushed the door and discovered that this room had been occupied by Annabelle.

Annabelle was lying on the bed, and Beulah was sitting next to the bed looking a little disappointed, “I didn’t expect her to run away.”

“What?” Annabelle suddenly sat up from the bed, “How could she have gotten away?”

Beulah’s face darkened, “I was so careless with this thing. I thought she was just a child and that sending a man was enough to handle her. But I didn’t expect that man to be so useless. He couldn’t even catch a woman.”

Annabelle shouted angrily, “If she’s not ruined, how is Matthew going to upset her and then divorce her? If they don’t divorce, how am I going to get the chance?”.

Beulah covered Annabelle’s mouth with her hand, “Keep your voice down, or your father might hear her.”

Annabelle said quietly, “But I’m so angry…”

“And I’m not angry?” Beulah’s expressions were horrifying, “If she curries favor with Matthew Nelson and takes revenge on us by relying on the powers and forces of the Nelson Family, we will be dead meat.”

“So we must ruin her now,” Annabelle said with ferocity.

Beulah was more scrupulous: “We’ve failed this time, and I’m afraid she’s figured it out. It will be a bit difficult to set her up…”

“You…” Annabelle caught a glimpse of the person in the doorway and jumped out of bed. She pointed at Dolores and said fiercely, “How…how come you’re here?”

Dolores initially thought it was Helen who wanted to set her up, but she hadn’t expected it to be planned by Beulah and Annabelle.

Beulah was also astonished to see Dolores, “When did you come up here, what did you hear?”

Dolores then scoffed. Beulah had snatched her mother’s husband – her father and had been using her mother’s wedding gifts. She just wanted her mother and her belongings back.

But she hadn’t expected Beulah to intend to ruin her!

How ironic!

Were they afraid she would use the powers and forces of the Nelson Family?

“What did I hear?” scoffed Dolores, fixing her gaze on Beulah, “I heard everything I should have known. I heard every word you said.”
