When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 161

"Hah, did you really think no one would find out? I knew from the very first day you bought into the company."

Joe's voice was filled with confidence, laced with a hint of mockery.

"You own at least 17% of the shares, right? I know you're trying to sell them off, so

I blocked the final step to keep you from cashing out completely.

"The only reason these shares are worth anything today is because of Zayn's hard work. Now that you're no longer a Forbes, do you think you can just walk away with them? Not a chance."

Josephine exclaimed in disbelief, "Uncle Joe, I bought these shares with my own money!"

"Your own money? Hah!" Joe sneered. "Josephine, do you take me for a fool? When you married into the Forbes family, you had, what, a few dozen million at most?

"Where did you get the money to acquire that many shares? Don't tell me it wasn't from Zayn. You were just buying Forbes shares with the Forbes money."

His voice was cold, devoid of the fatherly concern he once showed her. Now, there was nothing but provocation and ridicule, as if he were speaking to an enemy.

"Just do as I said, and we can still part on good terms. I don't want to make things ugly."

That last statement carried an unmistakable threat.

But Joe had truly underestimated Josephine.

For three years, she had played the perfect Mrs. Forbes-a respectful daughter- in-law, a considerate wife. To them, she might have seemed obedient and easy to control.

But in reality, she was soft on the outside, yet unyielding within. The more someone pressured her, the more she resisted.

She hadn't cared much about the money in the first place. If Joe had spoken to her nicely and reasoned with her, she might have actually relented and handed over her shares to help offset the Forbes Group's losses.

But now that he had chosen to threaten her, he wouldn't be getting a single cent.

"Sorry, Uncle Joe, but what's mine is mine. And just so you know, I've already hired William to handle the legal proceedings. Everything will be notarized within a week. By then, the court will make a fair ruling on whether this money belongs to me or Zayn. There's no point in arguing about it now."

With that, she hung up without waiting for his response.

To be honest, Joe intimidated her. His powerful network, extensive experience, and commanding presence all put immense pressure on her-a 23-year-old woman.

Still, the stronger her opponent was, the more she refused to back down.

Suddenly, the car pulled over.

Josephine tensed up, only to realize they had stopped in an unfamiliar neighborhood.

Ethan explained calmly, "I'm thirsty. I'm going to grab a drink. Want anything?"

A drink?

Josephine instinctively swallowed.

After

e press conference and ae

the phone calls, her throat waset

indeed feeling dry.

"Tea, please. Something light."

"Got it. Wait here." Ethan stepped out of the car.

Josephine's gaze unconsciously followed him.

Whenever he went, people-both men and women-couldn't help but stare, their eyes filled with admiration.

His looks were simply too striking. Even in something as simple as a black coat, he stood out from the crowd.

It was as if he had walked straight out of a romance drama, exuding an effortless charm.

She couldn't help but turn to George.

"I'm really curious... What kind of

woman could win his heart for so

many years? She must be truly

exceptional for someone like him to

love her for this long."

George grinned. "Oh, she's definitely exceptional. And as for looks... She's just as beautiful as you!"

"Me?"noveldrama

Josephine touched her own cheek.

"I'm just average-looking. Besides, I would never go for someone like him."
