Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1761

Jackson glanced at her, taking the phone and checking it out, but he didn't immediately dismiss the invitation's authenticity.

Knowing Josie, she'd never set herself up for failure. Someone as fiercely competitive as her wouldn't make such a rookie mistake.

"This invitation is a fake," Jackson pointed out, gesturing toward the gilded invitation on the table. "In the States, elite families have their own unique embossed seals on invitations, pressed into the paper, making them impossible to remove. But this one? It just has a plain 'L' printed on it. It's a dead giveaway."

Fiona looked closely and found it just as Jackson described. Moreover, the gilded edges were merely dusted with gold, not crafted from melted gold molds.

"Looks like Josie's setting us up, starting with Tyler. Once he shows up with this invite, he'll be branded a forger. On the surface, the Larkin family might involve the police, but really, they'll use Tyler to pressure us," Fiona deduced.

With this realization, Fiona immediately called Tyler. Although they dodged this bullet, there was no telling what else Josie might have planned. Thankfully, being in the States meant they had resources at their disposal.

Jackson's cooking was out of this world, and Fiona hadn't eaten so much in ages. Her stomach was satisfyingly full.

After dinner, feeling sleepy, Fiona went upstairs for a nap.

Meanwhile, Jackson was in the study, handling some paperwork. He was steadily becoming an influential figure in the Woods family and was making inroads into the Woods Corporation in the States, with many tasks demanding his attention.

Still, he was far from meeting his promise to Grandpa Woods.

Not long after, Jackson got a call from the company. His journey at Woods Corporation wasn't all smooth sailing; there were always some reckless and self-important folks trying to push him out, but none had succeeded.

Before heading out, Jackson peeked into Fiona's room to find her fast asleep. He quietly approached here bed. Her peaceful face was even more serene in her sleep, and he couldn't help but reach out and gently touch her soft, delicate cheek. It was smooth and comforting.

"Fiona," he whispered softly, as if speaking to a cherished treasure.noveldrama

Fiona slowly opened her eyes, squinting slightly as she sleepily hummed, then easily hooked her arm around Jackson's neck.

Her warm breath brushed against Jackson's face, making the cozy room feel even more intimate.

"Jackson, where are you headed?" Fiona asked, her vision clearing enough to see Jackson dressed sharply. She couldn't resist leaning into his embrace, whispering, "Off to the company?"

"Yep, just need to sort out a few things. I'll be back soon. You get some rest," Jackson replied, gently ruffling Fiona's hair with a smile. If you get hungry, there's some shrimp and clams downstairs that left for you."

"Okay," Fiona murmured, nestling into his chest and stretching lazily, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Jackson, take care of yourself."

After a few tender moments together, Jackson left the apartment, leaving it even quieter than before.
