Nora

Chapter 20

Chapter 20:.

Justin stared at the little boy in his arms. His murmur reached her ears. It sounded like he was calling out for his mother….. The light in his eyes went out.

Pete rarely asked about his mother.

But it turned out that, to her son, his mother was a very important figure.

He lowered his eyes, hiding the complex emotions inside. Then he carried Cherry into the bedroom, took off her shoes and tucked her in.

She gazed at her son’s young, sleeping face for a long moment before quietly leaving the bedroom.

The next day.

“Sorry, I overslept last night, did Dad scold you last night, Cherry?”

Cherry lay back on the bed and returned her brother’s voicemail. “No, because even though I don’t know much math, I’m amazing at history! Dad got so excited he cancelled my homework.”

Pete believed her. He told her, “Okay. Don’t forget our plans for today.”

Cherry was about to answer when the door opened.

Justin pushed open the door and walked in to see his son on the bed with his butt up while texting on his cell phone.

Upon seeing him, his son turned off the cell phone screen in a panic. Then, with a guilty conscience, he blinked his big, pretty eyes and exclaimed, “You look even cuter today, daddy!”

Justin couldn’t help but smile when he heard the little guy’s compliment. “…You’re a handsome guy too.”

“No, that won’t do.” Cherry corrected him seriously and said, “‘Handsome’ is used to describe boys. I’m going to be beautiful when I grow up.”

Justin was perplexed.

Cherry pushed the comforter aside and nimbly got out of bed. Then she took his big hand in her small one and asked, “Do you want some breakfast, Dad? Cherr… Cherry Pit is really hungry!”

“…”

Justin looked at her hesitantly again.

Grandpa was the one who had named him Peter, hoping he would be tough and down to earth as a rock. How did that become ‘cherries’ instead? It sounded a bit effeminate.

He led Cherry into the dining room.

The presidential suite was over 1,000 square feet. It had four bedrooms, two studies, a living room, a lounge, a gym, a kitchen and a dining room.

As they ate, Justin ordered, “Get the family doctor in here.”

Cherry ate slowly, so Justin had the nanny attend to her when she finished. He then went into the study with the family doctor who had rushed in.

While the doctor was there, he watched his employee’s expression change again and again before he hesitantly asked, “Is it possible to tell the sexual orientation of a five-year-old?”

During the previous day’s history test, all the names her son had mentioned were of handsome, attractive men.

Also, her son’s desire to be ‘handsome’ and the fact that this morning he called himself “Cherry” was quite disturbing.

Was Chester being a bad influence on him?

The family doctor, seeing how serious he was, replied solemnly, “A person’s sexual orientation is usually already decided at birth. But if you have any doubts about it, I can set up a test for Pete.”

“…Okay, set up the test.”

After giving instructions to the doctor, Justin left the studio. The moment he returned to the dining room, he saw Chester and his son’s arms crossed behind their backs as they talked to each other in hushed voices. His face immediately sank.

“Why didn’t you log on to the game the night before?”

Chester was stuffing bread into his mouth and speaking in a muffled voice when he suddenly felt an icy aura approach him.

He turned his head slowly to see the tyrant standing behind him. The look in his eyes was as if he wanted to kill him.

Chester was so frightened that he jumped out of his chair. “Are you all right, Justin?”

Justin withdrew his scrutinizing gaze and stepped between Chester and Cherry. He said, “There’s no one living next door. You can move in there instead.”

Chester was confused.

Why was he sensing a sharp sneer from the tyrant?

When Cherry filled in, he reached over and put his arms around Justin’s leg. Then she looked up and asked adorably, “Can you walk me to the movies today, Dad?”

Just as Justin was about to refuse, his son insisted, “Come on, Dad! Please?”

That tone…!

Justin reached down and picked Cherry up. “Don’t beg others so lightly, Pete.”

Cherry’s big, round eyes twinkled. “You’re going, then?”

“… All right.”

To make it up to her son, she had already postponed all her work and meetings today. Since he wanted to go to the movies, he would accompany him.

The two of them chose an afternoon screening of a cartoon movie. Before leaving, Cherry secretly texted Pete: “All set, Pete! How about you?”

Pete quickly replied, “We’re already on our way.”

How was Nora going to refuse the request? She was always sleeping, so she already spent less time with her son than other mothers. So as long as the request was not excessive, she granted all of Cherry’s requests.

Since she had surgery the next day, she slept until two in the afternoon. Then she took Pete to the movies while he yawned.

At the entrance to the movie theater, the corners of her lips twitched a little as she looked at Pete. “It’s just a movie, Cherry, is that really necessary?”

Pete had a mask on. “…It’s to avoid being infected by contagious diseases.”

Nora held her forehead with her hand. “And the sunglasses?”

Pete pushed them up a little and reluctantly replied, “Looks good.”

“…If you say so.”

After Nora bought some popcorn and a cola, she took him by the hand and led him inside the movie theater. After taking their assigned seats, Pete pulled out his cell phone and texted his sister, “Are you there yet?”

Cherry followed Justin inside the movie theater, sulking.

She wanted popcorn, but her father had flatly refused to buy her any, saying it was unhealthy. It was awful.

Justin really disliked big movie theaters like this one. Not only were there a lot of people, but the air was very dirty. But since his son wanted the experience, it wasn’t in his best interest to book the entire theater either.

She entered the theater sullenly with Cherry in her arms. When she arrived at the seats that had been assigned to them based on the tickets her son had bought online, she immediately saw the woman who was already seated there.

The theater was pitch black, but she was so white that she was dazzling to the eye.

Her eyes were covered and she looked very sleepy. Her arms were comfortably crossed and she was asleep.

Justin’s expression darkened.

He had wondered why his son suddenly wanted to come to the movies and had even bought tickets. So, in the end, it was all still a machination of that woman.noveldrama

She wanted to turn around and leave, but thinking of her son’s mental health, she suppressed her impatience and put Cherry between the two of them at last.

He would never give her a chance to get close to him again.

The two cuties, who wore masks, exchanged a glance at each other. How could mom and dad fall in love if they didn’t sit together?

At that moment the movie started.

The Frozen theme song began to play. With just a glance, the movie instantly caught Cherry’s attention and she began to watch it with her eyes wide open.

Half an hour later, Cherry suddenly smelled popcorn. Absorbed in the cartoons, she unconsciously nudged Nora and said,

“Popcorn, Mom!”

Nora, who was dozing, let out a stunned, “Okay.” Then, she grabbed a piece of popcorn, pulled off Cherry’s mask and popped it in her mouth.

Pete was amazed.
