Nora

Chapter 23

Chapter 23:.

Nora was wearing a mask, goggles and a surgical cap, so she was completely covered from head to toe. No one could see what she looked like at all.

Therefore, none of them saw the smirk at the corners of her lips.

She really hadn’t expected her younger sister to be so brazen.

If it had been earlier, she might have considered being a little nicer, but now….

Nora suddenly smiled and said, “Oh, so you’re Nora Smith?”

She had deliberately lowered her voice, which made her already deep voice sound even deeper, as if her throat hurt.

As soon as she said that, the entire operating room fell silent. Everyone, including Dr. Larson, looked at Angela.

Angela’s smile froze, and a cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

Had that fat fuck really signed the email?

Dr. Larson’s expression turned sullen, and he asked, “What does this mean, Angela?”

Angela plucked up her courage and began to make up a story. She said, “I’m sorry, Dr. Anti, Dr. Larson. I was afraid that Doctor Anti would refuse my request, so I was too embarrassed to use my real name and ended up using my sister’s name.”

Doctor Larson’s expression softened. “I see.”

Gee.

All of his sister’s wit had been put to use here.

Nora looked down. As she made her way to the operating room, she asked with apparent curiosity, “How did you get my e-mail address?”

Angela, who had just let out a sigh of relief, was puzzled.

Why would anyone ask about this? Besides, her aunt was the patient. Her claim that she had sent the email made logical sense, so there was no need to press the issue.

He wiped the sweat that had formed on his forehead again and stammered, “I…I asked a friend.”

Nora continued with her questions as if nothing had happened. She asked, “Can you tell me what my e-mail address is?”

Angela stopped abruptly, the exposed parts of her face already pale.

Her reaction was all too revealing.

Dr. Larson with a reddened face reprimanded, “What is wrong with you, Angela, was it you who sent the email or not?”

Angela could only tell the truth. “N-no, it wasn’t me.”

Arriving at the operating room doors, Nora opened them. Before entering, she hears Dr. Larson shouting angrily behind her,

“To think that you would dare say such a thing to observe the operation! A student of poor character and education like you is not worthy to observe Anti’s operation. Get out!”

In the operating room.

Irene clenched her fists nervously as she lay on the cold bed and stared at the ceiling.

She turned her head toward the door when she heard it open. When her soft eyes met the doctor’s, she swallowed nervously.

He knew he would probably die on the operating table today.

A 10% success rate was too low.

Just as a wry smile appeared on his lips, the Doctor suddenly approached. In a low voice, he said, “I’m Anti, Aunt Irene. Go ahead and sleep. When you wake up, you’ll be fine.”

Irene’s eyes suddenly opened. Beyond the glasses, a pair of familiar feline eyes came into her view.

On the top floor of the Finest Hotel.

“Dad is a bad man who misunderstood mom. I’m not talking to you.”

In the bedroom, Cherry hugged the only stuffed animal in the toy pile and turned her back to the door as she sat in a corner.

The huge, tall Justin stood in the doorway.

The little guy had a really bad temper. He had been ignoring him since the day before and kept looking at him accusingly with his big, watery eyes, making it look like he had done some terribly heinous things.

Lawrence was in the room trying to convince her. He said, “Don’t sit here anymore, Pete, why don’t we go to where the toys are?”

Cherry raised her head and curved her lip as she said, “There’s nothing there but cars and airplanes. It’s no fun – why no Barbies dolls?”

Justin’s jaw tightened. “…”

He looked at the family doctor and asked quietly, “Is the test ready?”

“Yes, it is.” After answering, the GP entered the bedroom cheerfully and said in a coaxing voice, “Why don’t we do a little test, Pete? I’ll give you a Barbie doll when we’re done.”

Cherry, completely unaware that this would put her brother in a rather unfortunate situation, nodded immediately. “Okay!”

As she watched her son cheerfully follow the doctor out of the bedroom, concern appeared on Justin’s countenance.

The test ended quickly. Half an hour later, Cherry bounced out of the study with the Barbie doll the family doctor had rewarded her with and ran past Justin into the bedroom without looking anywhere else.

“…”

As he looked back at her, Justin, who had an indescribable expression on his face, entered the study and asked, “Are the results in yet?”

The attending physician coughed and replied, “Yes, they are in. Please mentally prepare yourself, Mr. Hunt.”noveldrama

Justin clenched his fists tightly. The GP said tactfully, “It’s obvious that Pete pays more attention to men than women. The test has shown that he thinks he’s…a little princess.”

Bam!

Justin slammed his fist on the desk. He, who had always dealt with all the dirty tricks and trickery of the commercial world with skill and ease, found himself actually feeling a little helpless.

What was he going to do about it?

The sound startled the GP. Only when he looked back and saw Lawrence beckoning him in the doorway did he finally leave the room.

After waiting another half hour, Lawrence said, “It’s time, Mr. Hunt.”

He had already asked: Anti’s operation would take seven hours. The time would be very good if they went now.

Justin rose solemnly. “Let’s go.”

He looked at his son as he left the room-combing the hair on his wrist. He hummed a little tune as he nimbly braided the doll’s hair. Then, she picked out a set of clothes and began to change the doll in them.

She tried, again and again, to keep her temper under control. Finally, she said, “Daddy’s going out for a while, Pete. Let’s play with the airplanes together when he gets back.”

Cherry ignored him.

Then Justin said, “I’ll buy you a Barbie when I get back in the evening.”

Cherry’s eyes lit up and she looked at him eagerly. However, she forced herself to look away. He said, “Cherr… Cherry Pit doesn’t want a Barbie doll. I want Mommy.”

Sob, he had already traded places with Pete for two days. He missed mommy.

“…”

Who the hell was “Cherry Pit?”

Justin, who felt as if his heart had been pierced by a million arrows, left the hotel heartbroken along with Lawrence and headed for the city hospital.

To make sure he could catch Anti, Justin decided to go into the operating room.

As he changed, next to him, Lawrence said, “This is a psychological issue, Mr. Hunt. How about we ask Miss Smith to come in and talk to Pete?”

Justin looked down. The thought of Nora irritated him even more.

When he’d gone in to change, he’d noticed his aunt was still in full surgery, but she was nowhere in sight. A woman like that…

He turned down the suggestion again. “No, it’s not necessary.”

Even if her son wasn’t normal, at least he wasn’t a ruthless and insensitive person.

After leaving her a cold reply, he pushed open the door and entered the operating room.

Inside the operating room, all the lights were focused on the operating table.

His eyes were fixed directly on the woman who was performing the operation with full concentration.

At the sight of her, a slightly dazed expression appeared on his countenance.
