Chapter 1285

“But your men? They’re no match for mine.” Fabian held his gaze, unmoving. “There’s nowhere left for you to run.”

But Verruckt didn’t seem to care.

He had never cared about the lives of those people.

Ever since the research facility was destroyed, his world had boiled down to one singular purpose: revenge. Revenge on Allison. It was all that had kept him going.

Even now, standing on the edge of his inevitable downfall, he wasn’t sure if he hated her or loved her.

Perhaps the only thing he truly wanted was for her to never forget him. Verruckt lowered his head, his voice uncharacteristically soft as he asked, “Allison, when you pretended to be Alice, did you ever feel anything for me?”

The weight of this moment far surpassed any danger he had ever faced. But Allison didn’t hesitate for even a second.

“You were never more than a means to an end,” she replied coldly.

Her words struck Verruckt like a blade, shattering the last shred of hope he had been clinging to.

A bitter smile stretched across his face, his expression darkening into something almost deranged.

“They say those who share the same fate in death are destined to meet again,” he murmured before his grip tightened around her wrist. “Allison, you can’t escape me.”

Then, without warning, he lifted his gaze toward the approaching figures clad in black.

“Hold off Fabian’s men for as long as you can!”

Before anyone could react, Verruckt yanked Allison with him as he plunged backward off the cliff.

For an instant, gravity ceased to exist.

If they fell down the towering cliff, they would surely be smashed to pieces.

Kellan’s eyes narrowed as his body reacted instinctively.

At this critical moment, Kellan did his best to grab Allison’s wrist tightly.

“Allison, hold on to me!”

But just as he caught her, he felt another force pulling her down.

Verruckt’s fingers were clamped tightly around Allison’s ankle, his expression twisted in dark amusement. “Kellan, you really are a good man. I’m touched. But if you keep this up, all three of us are going to die.”

A low, eerie chuckle escaped him. He had already made peace with his fate.

As long as he could take Allison with him, he had won.

Allison turned her gaze upward, her eyes locking onto Kellan’s.

“Tell Fabian… No, tell my father to take care of my mother. She’s suffered enough.”

She spoke with quiet resolve, her lips curving into the faintest smile, like someone delivering their final words.
