Chapter 1287
Chapter 1287:
The drop was terrifyingly high.
It felt like the wind was ripping through Allison’s skin as she plummeted to certain death.
At least, she was certain that it was the end for her.
Then, she felt Kellan’s hand grasp hers.noveldrama
They could barely see each other through the wind that stung their eyes, much less hear anything apart from the rush of wind in their ears.
Love had come right before death embraced them.
At that moment, Verruckt chose to release his grip on Allison. There was no longer any point in holding onto her; he realized he had lost to Kellan.
Allison glanced in his direction just in time to see his mouth moving, but she had no way of knowing what he said.
All she knew was that after he let go, Verruckt seemed to fall even faster.
Allison’s vision was dimming. Just before she fainted, she felt strong arms pull her close, and then her head was pressed against Kellan’s chest. She relished the warmth that enveloped her.
For a few precious seconds, she felt as though they had become one in essence, bound by love and devotion—something that not even the most terrible storm could tear apart.
The last thing that registered in Allison’s mind was a violent collision with a massive tree branch. Though it stopped their momentum to some degree, they continued to fall.
But Allison didn’t feel any fear. If anything, she felt reluctance. All her cherished memories flashed before her, just as they say happens when one is about to die.
Encouraged by her reluctance to leave the one she loved and the beautiful memories, she tried her best to grab onto the branches on the cliff and desperately clutch at the rocks. She had done all she could. The rest was up to fate.
Allison had no idea how much time had passed, but she felt as though she had just been run over by a truck.
She thought she could vaguely hear the sound of flowing water.
Cough!
Allison gasped for breath and opened her eyes, only to dissolve into a coughing fit.
She found herself lying on a riverbank. She tried to sit up, only to realize that she couldn’t move any of her limbs. She turned her head and saw Kellan lying next to her.
His eyes were closed, but his hand was still clutching hers tightly.
“Kellan…”
Allison could only gape at him in a mix of shock and horror before tears welled up in her eyes.
Mustering all the strength she had left, she pulled herself up. She clung to the nearest tree for support until she was on her feet. She could tell that her right leg was broken. She also had multiple bruises all over her body.
But since Kellan was holding her in his arms when they made impact, her injuries were far less severe than his.
