Chapter 685
Cameron thought for a moment. Driving back now would take at least an hour. Whatever, I'll just lodge with him. Anyway, I've stayed over here before? she told herself.
Under Bradley's eager gaze, Cameron nodded. "Sure."
"Cam, I'll let your mom know," Bradley said in delight.
Before Cameron could say anything, Bradley had already sent a message
to Jacqueline on WhatsApp, letting her know that Cameron would be staying
with him tonight.
Meanwhile, the Yates family was gathered together, shocked to see Cameron and Bradley post on Instagram at the same time.
Bradley's Instagram post even made it look like she'd already accepted his
proposal.
When Jacqueline got the message, she immediately told everyone, "Bradley just texted me saying Cam's spending the night with him."
"No, they can't do it!", Gavin jumped to his feet, his eyes blazing with fury.
After seeing both of their Instagram posts, Gavin immediately sent Cameron a message on WhatsApp, but she didn't reply, He then tried calling her, and still failed to get through.
Gavin was already very unhappy and thought, 'They've just made it official, and Cam's not even replying to my messages. Now she's spending the night with Bradley? How can that be allowed?'
Levi asked, "Why can't they?"
Gavin replied, "They're not even married! How can they spend the night together?"
Lance chimed in, "Gavin, how can you be so old-fashioned>"
"Shut up!" Gavin snapped.
Amelia teased, “Gavin, what if Cam and Bradley have already registered their marriage?"
Gavin shouted, "No way!"
"Doesn't it look like Cam agreed to marry Brad or something with that Instagram post?" echoed Lance.
Jacquetine said, "There's no way they're married. Cam's not that impulsive."
"Kidnapping!" Gavin yelled. "Cam must've been kidnapped! She didn't answer my phone, but Bradley messaged Mom instead. There must be something wrong. I have to find her!"
As Gavin stopped speaking, he stormed out of the living room, stunning everyone else.
"Gavin!" Jacqueline started after him, but Levi stopped her. "Leave him alone. He can't find her anyway."
Jacqueline nodded, then looked at Lance and Amelia. "Lance, Amy
it's time to go to bed."
Lance said goodnight to his parents, took Amelia's hand and led her upstairs.
Levi was right. Gavin was running around like a headless chicken, completely clueless about where to even start looking for Cameron.
While Bradley was texting Jacqueline, Cameron glanced down at her phone and noticed Gavin's message.
She sent Gavin a voice message on WhatsApp. [Gavin, it's already really late, so I'm not coming home tonight. It just go straight to the dos tomatids. Can you let our folks know for me?]
Heating Cameron's voice from the phone, Gavin breathed a sigh of relief.
He wanted to persuade Cameron to come home and tell her he'd go pick her up. But in the
end, he abandoned the idea
'Cam is twenty-six now, not sixteen. She should know what she's doing now, Gavin told himself
He figured he'd better just leave her alone, so he replied. (Okay, Cam. Congrats.]
Seeing Cameron put her phone down, Bradley grinned and said, "Cam, it's getting late. Let me walk you to your room so you can get some rest.
Cameron nodded. "Yeah, I have to work tomorrow after all."
She didn't even show up at work today.
Bradley held her hand as they went upstairs, their fingers tightly intertwined. Somehow, they both slowed their pace, neither in a hurry to reach the destination. Cameron's room was at the very end of the south hallway on the second floor. No matter how slowly they walked, it didn't take long before they reached the door.
Cameron reached for the doorknob, but with her hand still in his, Bradley took her gently into his arms. "Cam..." His voice overflowed with endless tenderness and affection.
Cameron nestled against his chest, looking up at him, and their smiling eyes met for a split second.
Cameron said softly, "Bradley, it's very late
Bradley just gazed at her in silence.
now."
His eyes lingered on her face, wandering from her hair towards her full forehead. Looking into her bright, captivating eyes for a moment, he took his eyes off her elegant nose to stare at her luscious red lips.
Bradley swallowed hard and asked, "Cam, can I... Can I kiss you?"
Cameron just smiled and shook her head. "Nope."
Bradley fell silent with a flash of disappointment in his eyes. 'Well, we'd just made
it official today. For Cam, this was moving way too fast. He thought.
However, unwilling to give up, Bradley kept Cameron in his arms, lowered his
head so their foreheads touched, their breaths even audible. "Can't leven give you a peck?"
A shadow of a smile touched Cameron's mouth. "No."
At a loss for words, Bradley could only let go of her, though he
was
clearly reluctant.
He took a step back. "Alright, Cam. You should have an early night."
Cameron kept smiling at him, her eyes never torn away from his face.
Just as Bradley was about to turn away, Cameron suddenly threw her arms around his neck and pressed a quick kiss to the corner of his lips. "Goodnight, Brad," she whispered.
Bradley's mind went totally blank for a second.
His eyes, behind the gold-rimmed glasses, were wide with shock, but soon glistened with delight. His voice trembled as he called her name "Cam.
Cameron tried to step back, but it was too late. With his hand behind her head, Bradley softly pinning her against the wall. He lowered his head and kissed her on the red lips without hesitation.
The kiss was gentle at first, then grew deeper and more passionate, almost overwhelming Cameron. Even though she'd lived for over a thousand years this was her very first kiss.
Not knowing how long it lasted, Cameron felt breathless and finally pushed Bradley away. "Brad, it's enough..." Her knees were so weak she could barely stand.
Bradley pressed his nose to hers, his voice hoarse and low. "Cam, you're really naughty."
Cameron giggled, her eyes sparkling. "I was just teasing. Seriously, it's really late, and I need some sleep now."
But Bradley couldn't resist it and lowered his head to plant another peck on her
lips.
Cameron pouted, "Brad, that's enough, okay?"
At this rate, things might really get out of hand tonight. So she quickly made her escape.
Cameron quickly turned away, opened the door, and switched on the light. But in the next instant, she was completely stunned.
Her room was empty of furniture. 'Didn't the butler say the bed was already made up?' she thought, confused. 'Why is there nothing on my bed? Could it be that he made the bed in Bradley's room instead?'
Bradley caught on too. "How come the bed's not made?"
Cameron said, "I'll do it myself."
But after searching the entire room, Cameron didn't know what to do because she couldn't find any bedclothes.
Bradley said, "I'll ask the butler to come up."
He went directly to the butler's room and knocked on the door, but there was no response. At this time of night, the butler was already sound asleep.
Cameron said, “Brad, let's go see if your room is ready."
Bradley looked at her in surprise. "Wait, my room?"
Cameron replied with a helpless smile, "What else am I supposed to do? Crash
on the floor?"
Bradley shook his head immediately. "Of course not."
So the two of them made their way to Bradley's room together, opened the door
and turned on the light. His king-size bed came into view-perfectly made up, not
a wrinkle in sight.
Cameron was speechless. 'Of course. I totally saw this coming,' she thought.
Bradley glanced at her. "Cam, looks like the butler only made up one bed for us,
huh?"
He figured the butler must've seen how intimate they were in the living room and just assumed they'd be spending the night together.
Cameron's eyes swept around the room as she shrugged. "Looks like I'll have to crash on the couch then."
Bradley's eyes dimmed. "No."
"Why not?"
39 Tue
"You take the bed. I'll sleep on the couch."
"You're way too tall for that couch-there's no way you'll fit."
"It's just for tonight, I'll make do.".
Cameron nodded. "Alright then, I'm gonna get washed."
"Come on, let's go wash up together," Bradley said, taking her hand with their fingers intertwined naturally. Cameron looked at him, her lips curling into a smile. When they got to the bathroom, there were two sets of toiletries waiting for them on the edge of the sink. The butler indeed had assumed they were staying together.
Bradley took out the toothbrush, rinsed it off first, then squeezed some toothpaste onto it for Cameron before handing it over.
"Thanks," Cameron said.
Bradley reached out to ruffle her hair gently before unpacking his own toiletry bag.
As they brushed their teeth side by side, Cameron's short hair slipped from behind
her ear. Instinctively, Bradley reached over and tucked it back behind
her ear.
Even though it was his first time doing something like that, he did it so smoothly that one'd think he'd done it many times.
Noticing that, Cameron raised her eyebrow slightly. After they finished washing
up, they headed back to the room.
Bradley glanced at the khaki dress Cameron was wearing and asked, "Cam, wanna change into some pajamas?"
He then went to open up the walk-in closet, revealing a bunch of his clothes
hanging neatly inside, which were washed and aired by the butler regularly. So they were always fresh and clean.
Bradley took out one of his robes, yet it was way too long for Cameron to wear that he frowned slightly at it.
But Cameron just picked out a short-sleeved T-shirt and a pair of athletic shorts from the closet. "I'll make do with them."
They looked super baggy on her, so they'd totally work as pajamas for tonight.
Cameron went into the bathroom to change clothes before coming out again in no
time.
Bradley was 6 feet 2 inches tall, while Cameron was 5 feet 9 inches in height. Besides, he was much more built than she was.
So his clothes were quite loose when she put them on. The T-shirt almost covered her thighs, while the athletic shorts were still just shorts on her. Even
though everything looked oversize, Cameron somehow made it look effortlessly
cuté.
Bradley was unable to tear his eyes away from her. "Cam, you're gorgeous."
Cameron grinned, "Brad, it's getting late. Go change your clothes-I'm going to bed." She was honestly wiped out now.
Bradley couldn't help but steal a few more glances at her before grabbing his pajamas to get dressed.
By the time he came out, the main lights in the room were off, leaving only a wall
lamp casting a soft glow, perfect for sleeping. Bradley took a thin blanket from the closet and spread it out on the couch.
Hearing the noise, Cameron called softly, "Brad, sorry you have to put up with this
tonight."
Bradley smiled, "Cam, it doesn't matter. Just being able to see you when I opennoveldrama
my eyes makes me really happy."
Hugging her blanket, Cameron looked at him in the dim light. "Me too,
Brad."

Completely at case, Cameron felt secure and protected when she was with
Bradley, like nothing in the world could shake her.
"Goodnight, Cam," Bradley said softly.
"Goodnight, Brad," Cameron murmured.
"Cam..." Bradley gazed at her, a little hopeful. "Can I get one more kiss?"
But there was no reply. Silence filled the room, and all Bradley could hear was the
sound of Cameron's quiet breathing. Turned out she'd already drifted off to sleep. Bradley couldn't help but give a doting smile as he whispered, "Goodnight, Cam." Bradley wasn't the least bit tired. Lying on the couch, he was so tall that it was way too small for him-his calves dangled awkwardly off the side, cramped as hell.
But Bradley couldn't stop smiling. He was really delighted because Cam finally said yes to being his girlfriend today.
Everything was just so perfect, it felt like a dream. But Bradley knew he wasn't dreaming. It really happened.
He was so happy he couldn't sleep at all. So he grabbed his phone and started
texting his family. Everyone else was already asleep, but Eddie texted him back right away.
Eddie: [Brad, I'm really happy for you. You and Cameron missed each other for seven years, but now you're together again. That's just awesome.]
Bradley: [Thanks, Eddie. Why aren't you asleep at this time of night?]
Eddie: [Can't sleep.]
Bradley: [Eddie, still dwell on it?]
Eddie didn't reply.
Bradley: [Eddie, you've already paid for your mistakes. Maybe it's time to let
yourself off the hook, isn't it?]
Back in the day, Eddie was just a clueless playboy, hopping from one girlfriend to the next at will, sometimes even juggling a few at once.
That all changed when their little sister, Camilla Saunders, returned home.
Eddie was completely blown away by Camilla's beauty that he decided then and
there to ditch his old ways and chase her.
But half an hour later, he found out that Camilla was actually his biological sister.
He was so shocked and couldn't live with the shame of it.
Feeling humiliated, Eddie went all out against Camilla, but he was no match for
her. Things got even worse when he actually teamed up with her enemies to
frame her, almost making a horrible mistake. Goaded beyond endurance, Camilla hacked into his phone, asked all his girlfriends out, and made Eddie tag along for the show.
Only then did all the women realize Eddie had been stringing them along at the
same time. Flying into a rage, they had Eddie badly battered about the head and
face.
One of Eddie's girlfriends recorded the whole scene on video and posted it online.
In no time, Eddie was doxed and becam
target of cyberbullying.
He finally realized just how crazy he'd been all these years. Eaten up by regrets,
he spiraled into a serious depression. Night after night, he was unable to sleep and kept slicing through his arms with a blade, watching the blood trickle down.
His family were worried sick about him, but deep down, they also thought he kind of had it coming.
Even though Eddie had stopped injuring himself now, he was still suffering from
severe depression.
At Camilla's wedding, Eddie fell for a woman named Vicki Shaw at first sight. But
she was so pure while he felt tainted to the core, so he didn't even look at her, as
if just a glance would somehow defile her.
Bradley really hoped Eddie could get himself out of it and make a fresh start. Nobody was perfect, and Eddie had already paid dearly for his mistakes, Eddie just replied: [Brad, it's very late. Good night.]
Bradley sighed and knew Eddie had to come to terms with it himself, which wasn't
within anyone's power to help him.

Cameron drifted off to sleep in no time, and found herself having that same dream
again in which a boy gently covered her battered body with his jacket. But she still couldn't see his face clearly.
At midnight Cameron awoke and stared up at the ceiling, lost in thought. Back then, she'd been framed by Amelia and Skyler for "candid photos" of Elijah,
and the Chapman family used that as an excuse to call off the engagement with the Wallace family.
Martin was so irate that he called Cameron home and gave her a thrashing. Her
ribs broke, and she even vomited blood before blacking out. When she finally came round, she was in the hospital. However, apart from
herself in the ward, Martin, Heidi, and Milena were all gone.
