She might have started this interrogation, but now he had taken the reins. If she wanted to know the answer, she would have to listen to him on his terms.

Eileen backpedaled, suddenly flustered. “Never mind. I trust you, remember? Just asking out of habit.” She quickly fled. Bryan’s amused gaze followed Eileen as she escaped, his hands methodically loosening the knot of his black tie. He undid the top buttons of his shirt, revealing just a glimpse of his chest as he trailed behind Eileen, calm and unhurried.

Hearing Bryan moving, Eileen hastily slipped into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

“I’m taking a bath,” she said.

“Alright,” came Bryan’s deep, slightly hoarse voice.

Once inside the bathroom, Eileen felt her pulse quicken. As the hot water filled the tub, she slid in, sinking into the warmth. But then it suddenly dawned on her—why was she the one hiding?

It was Bryan who had gone to the club without telling her. He was the one who had met Presley. So why had she fled in the end?

Suddenly, the door clicked open, and through the rising steam, Bryan’s tall figure materialized.

Eileen blinked in surprise as Bryan placed the key to the door aside and stepped into the bathtub, the steam parting around him.

The water splashed over the edge of the tub as Bryan climbed in. Eileen narrowed her eyes, moving to the side and gripping the tub’s edge. “Bryan, you’re pushing your luck! You haven’t even given me a proper explanation!”

Bryan looked at her calmly. “That’s exactly why I’m here—to explain everything.”

Delicate petals floated in the water, and under the soft bathroom light, Eileen’s skin glowed, tinged with a light shade of pink. Bryan’s gaze followed the curve of her neck, his Adam’s apple bobbing subtly.

A familiar heat stirred within him, and a shiver ran through Eileen.

He was definitely here to tease her, not to explain!

Eileen’s fingers gripped the edge of the bathtub as she tried to flee. Her poor physique had never allowed her to move freely in water, and now, she found herself slipping. Before she could fall, Bryan’s arms encircled her.

“Why so jumpy?” Bryan murmured, his hands settling on her soft waist. “I haven’t even explained anything yet.”

“I don’t want to hear it now!” Eileen said.

Bryan chuckled. “You can’t do that. Trust is vital for couples, but so are explanations. That’s where the fun lies.”

He gently pried Eileen’s hands from the tub’s edge. Eileen instinctively clutched his strong forearms, finding herself with no room to struggle.

She remained still in his embrace. “I really don’t need an explanation. I trust you!”

“Is that so? Then why are you still hiding?” Bryan’s teasing tone lingered in the air.

Eileen was at a loss for words.
