Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1259

Chapter 1259:

Raymond hesitated for a moment before replying, “I’m sorry I disappointed you and Mr. Dawson. There’s no special reason. I just wanted to change jobs.”

“Don’t lie to me,” Eileen shot back, her tone firm. “What’s going on? If you’re in trouble, I can help you.”

Before Raymond could answer, Presley approached them, arms crossed. “He works for the Deleon Group now. As his boss, I’ll help him if he needs help. Mrs. Dawson, I’d appreciate it if you don’t interfere.”

Eileen wasn’t flustered by Presley’s sudden arrival. Instead, she replied calmly, “Weren’t you the one who ‘interfered’ when you poached him? I don’t need you to tell me what to do.”

Presley looked at Eileen for a while and said, “You’re married, and now, you’re expecting a child. Shouldn’t you be taking it easy instead of sticking your nose into work matters? I suggest you don’t overexert yourself. It wouldn’t do you any good if something happened to you because of all this stress…”

Eileen’s pregnancy had never been announced publicly. Hearing Presley bring it up made Eileen frown. “Pregnant or not, I’m still far more capable than you. I can handle my business just fine; I don’t need you to worry about me.”

“Oh, I’m sure you’ll be just fine,” Presley replied before turning to Raymond. “Go pay the bill. Then, head to the parking lot and get the car ready. Turn on the air conditioning in advance, but don’t you dare get in the car. Wait for us outside.”

Raymond glanced at Eileen, an unreadable emotion flickering in his eyes before he nodded.

Then, he left.

Eileen had to admit that Presley certainly knew what could hurt her the most. Eileen could take all the insults, threats, and sarcastic remarks Presley threw at her without batting an eye. But watching Raymond be humiliated? She couldn’t help but feel bad.

Eileen turned on her heel, brushing past Presley. She moved so quickly that she accidentally collided with Raymond. Before Raymond could say a word, Eileen said sharply, “Are you blind? Didn’t you see me coming? Get out of my way.”

On the surface, she was saying this to Raymond, but her scorn was, in fact, aimed at Presley. She was implying that Raymond was blind to work for someone as despicable as Presley.

As Eileen stormed away, a sense of unease washed over Raymond.

“Looks like they really value you—just look at how upset she is,” Presley said with a smug look. “Don’t worry; when the Deleon Group grows bigger, I’ll bump you up from department manager to… a higher position.”

Raymond asked without hesitation, “How much higher? Will I be like I was at EB Group with only two superiors? Can my salary hit millions a year?”noveldrama

“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” Presley snapped, her mood souring. “Let’s call it what it is—we poached you, sure, but truthfully, you didn’t have much of a choice. With an attitude like that… do you really think I’d offer you that? If you want to blame someone for your situation, blame your sister for stirring up trouble.” With that, Presley strutted off.

When she returned to the table, Eileen and Bryan were already gone.
