Hearing this, Gabriela, held by Ruby, turned to see her parents chatting joyfully. Her expression turned puzzled. She exclaimed. However, before she could continue, Leyla interjected, “Sweetie, later, I’ll buy you toys to play in the snow. Does that sound good?” Gabriela, distracted by the promise, sweetly responded, “Yes! Thank you!”

Eileen missed this charming exchange.

The resort resembled more of a lodge than a hotel. Inside, the group discovered a world unto itself, with a standalone two-story villa. Bailee guided them through the villa, showing the rooms on both floors before leaving the room cards at the entrance.

“It’s busy since we just reopened,” Bailee explained as she prepared to leave. “I’ll go help Huey. Don’t forget tonight’s bonfire celebration. Make sure you all come!” Before anyone could respond, Gabriela clapped excitedly. “Thank you, Auntie!”

After Bailee’s departure, the adults unpacked their luggage, and Gabriela was eager to play in the snow. Leyla sat on a small stool outside to watch Gabriela, while Ruby joined Gabriela in the snow, assisting her in making snowballs.

Gabriela delighted in the snow, her laughter echoing across the yard.

In the evening, despite the festive atmosphere, Bryan planned to stay indoors with Eileen.

Just then, a work-related call interrupted him unexpectedly, demanding him to deal with something.

“Didn’t you finish all your work? We’re in Linder Land now. Can’t you manage it remotely?” Eileen inquired, puzzled by the timing.

Bryan hesitated briefly and then responded, “A client happened to be here and just saw me.”

“Then you should go,” Eileen said with a casual shrug. She didn’t require Bryan’s constant presence and appreciated the quiet of being alone.

Bryan said, “Make sure you stay indoors. The ground is slippery outside.”

“I know. I will take care of myself well,” Eileen assured him.

As evening approached and dusk began to fall, Ruby and Bailee took Gabriela out for some fun.

Leyla, having no interest in the local shows, opted to stay indoors with Eileen.

“Eileen, don’t business people usually talk over deals during meals and drinks?” Leyla inquired after watching Bryan leave.

Eileen answered, “Yes.”

“But dinner is done, and Bryan has just left to meet a client. What is he going to do? Is he planning to spend the night with the client?” Leyla asked.

Eileen replied resignedly, “No, he probably just set up an evening meeting.”

Leyla squinted skeptically and said, “You folks from Onaland find it normal to have meetings at night without worrying about losing sleep. Has Bryan always gone to meetings so late? And isn’t it just too convenient that the client is here as well? Especially when you’re pregnant!”

Eileen was aware that many men were unfaithful. Yet, she held firm in her belief that Bryan would not cheat on her.
