Chapter 221
Chapter 221:
“I’m okay, Ryder. You sound like my mom now.”
My joke did nothing to ease the frown on his face. “And you sound like someone who needs to see a doctor.”
“Yes, mom,” I muttered. The wave of nausea was replaced with a drained feeling. My head felt heavy, my feet light as feathers.
“Really, Jasmine, you need to take your health more seriously. You look tired,” said my new mom, Ryder.
I rolled my eyes, pulling my body into an upright position. Ryder was quick to come by my side, treating me like an invalid. Even though my body was against his, this man was basically carrying me.
“You know, this could be from the food I ate last night. My stomach felt funny immediately after I took the first spoonful, yet I ate it anyway,” I chuckled. He didn’t even crack a smile.
How ironic it was that I didn’t take my health seriously, but he did. As for the meal in question, it was my favorite. I’d been craving it for hours, and when I finally tasted it, that was when my stomach flipped, and I lost my appetite.
“I’m calling the pack doctor once we’re done showering.” His voice was reprimanding, but I didn’t mind, as long as we weren’t bickering.noveldrama
Ryder did most of the work in the shower. I was too tired to really do much, so he sponged me from head to toe, rinsed me clean, and helped me into my clothes. All the while, he asked every five to seven minutes if I was okay. I wanted to scream that I was fine, but I didn’t have the strength to.
I was saved from getting angry with his inquiries when a call from Kade took his attention. His eyes never left my face the entire time, and his grip on my hand tightened.
“Alright. Give me a sec,” he said before hanging up.
“I’m so sorry, I have to leave now. I’ll be back by noon. I love you.” His apology was sealed with a kiss on my forehead.
Just when I thought I’d gotten rid of his health inquiries, he paused at the door. “And the doctor will be here soon,” he said before leaving.

He was right. I was about to drift into the much-needed sleep when I heard a knock on the door. It was Seraphina, already dressed up, as she prepped me for my appointment with the pack’s doctor.
“Good morning, Jasmine. How are you feeling today?” Dr. Lee took a seat on my bedside stool.
“Good morning, Dr. Lee,” I yawned. “I’m tired. I threw up about an hour ago. I think it’s because of the food I ate yesterday,” I said offhandedly.
“Okay.” Dr. Lee scribbled on his iPad. “I’ll take your pulse now.” He cleared his throat before placing the pulse oximeter on my wrist.
“Your pulse is fine, mhmm. I’m going to have to carry out a few tests on you, so I’ll need to take your blood sample and urine sample for this purpose.” He stared at me, his brows furrowed thoughtfully as he pulled out a thermometer.
I nodded.
This was going to be a long day.
One of the perks of being royalty is that things come to you early. Not that I was particularly excited to know what was wrong with me, but my test results came in two hours later. Dr. Lee came back to announce them to me.
“Hope you followed my instructions?” he asked. “Of course I did. Drink plenty of water, stay in bed, try to get some sleep (even though I didn’t sleep a wink), eat some food even though you don’t have an appetite, etc.”
“Yes, doctor,” I leaned forward, eager to hear the conclusion of all this fuss and get it over with.
Dr. Lee let out a sigh before taking off his rimless glasses. His lips pulled into a small smile, and his eyes brightened as he spoke. “Congratulations, Luna. You’re pregnant. Four weeks pregnant.”
