Chapter 222
Chapter 222:
Jasmine’s POV
Pregnant?! I was pregnant?? The bells of excitement in my head rang loudly as my hands instinctively went to my stomach, rubbing it slowly. I was going to be a mother. Ryder’s baby was inside me?
The burst of energy I had been hoping for all day seemed to hit me full force as I sprang to my feet. A look of surprise swept across Dr. Lee’s face as he blinked furiously, adjusting his glasses with his free hand.
“Are you sure, doctor?” Though I was excited, my voice came out croaky and a bit panicked. My heart was racing, moving so fast I thought my chest might burst. I wanted to hear those words again, to make sure I hadn’t misheard him.
We’re pregnant! Oh my goodness, wait till Ryder hears this!” Layla squealed.
I rolled my eyes. “Oh, shut up. Let me hear it from him first, then you can scream all you want.” With all the excitement, it wasn’t wrong for me to think I’d misheard his words. Maybe he’d said I had premenstrual syndrome, and I just thought he said I was pregnant.
“Don’t be such a party pooper. You heard his words loud and clear,” Layla countered.
“Well, I want to be sure I wasn’t imagining things,” I hissed.
“Here we go again,” she sighed, but I could tell she was just as giddy with excitement—maybe even more than I was.
“Yes, Jasmine, you’re pregnant. I cross-checked the results, and it’s definite. If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t have told you,” he said, his warm smile lighting up his face. For a moment, he reminded me of my father.
For the second time, my hands wandered to my stomach… I had life in me. The heir to the pack—a mini version of Ryder and me.
Dr. Lee nodded slowly, as if he could understand my thoughts, then handed the results to me. “Congratulations once again. The Alpha would be pleased.” With that, he left, and I was left alone with my thoughts and my baby.
When I was sure he was out of earshot, I ran my fingers over the results, even though I knew I wouldn’t understand most of the medical jargon written in his scrawny handwriting.
“I’m going to be a mother!” I screamed, then punched the air in excitement. Happy tears ran freely down my cheeks as I hugged myself. The sickness felt like a distant memory. The baby—whether a girl or boy (I hoped it was a boy)—was going to be a combination of Ryder and me, our child. Now all I had to do was tell him.

I wanted to break the news to him in a special way, not the typical way I’d heard about. I wanted to create a moment we’d never forget. This moment was significant and deserved to be special for us. I could already imagine his response: He’d be quiet for a while, trying to process the information, and then maybe shed a happy tear or two. He’d run his hands over my stomach and talk to the baby—men always did that…
With a sigh, I began thinking quickly: candles, roses, a bottle of his favorite wine, soft music playing in the background… was that too cliché? Perhaps, but I wanted something simple yet special.
My hair was a mess, thanks to Ryder, who had insisted on washing it. I didn’t mind, though. I packed it into a bun and threw on my coat.noveldrama
Winter had always been the worst season for me. I hated it, ever since I could remember, thanks to old childhood memories. Today, however, I could tolerate it. Suddenly, the white snow didn’t remind me of the bright clouds I missed—it made me eager to play in it. Maybe I could roll a piece of cardstock with the news in it and throw it at him. Not bad. That was just one idea among many.
I stuck out my tongue at an icicle and giggled like a toddler. The car was packed more than it had been when I was dropped off. When I got there, Seraphina was asleep in the front passenger seat. I wanted to shake her and tell her the news, but then I remembered I hadn’t told Ryder yet. I decided to let her sleep.
“Home?” the driver mumbled. His voice was raspy, unlike how it usually was, but then again, everyone had an issue with their voice these days. It was winter, after all.
