Chapter 4:.

“I don’t like it, but my son loves it.” Joseph said. He took a box of chocolate out of his shopping bag and it was the same brand as the ball, “I bought a lot of them for my son, I can give him one of them.”

Stella’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the chocolate boxes, but she hesitated, “Mom said I wasn’t supposed to take things from strangers. But…” Her black eyes rolled and she stood on her tiptoes, moving closer to Joseph. She gave him a kiss on the face and grabbed the chocolate box, “This should be fine!”.

Joseph was startled, but a smile tugged at his lips.

His assistant was in a cold sweat, he looked at the time and was reminded. “Sir, it’s time…”.

“All right. Then I guess we should say goodbye now, little friend.” Joseph got up and left with his assistant.noveldrama

“Good-bye, sir!” Stella waved her hand behind her back. She thought the strange man was handsome, but also kind-hearted.

“Stella Downey!” Hearing a woman’s angry voice from behind her, Stella’s face contorted and she thought she was doomed. The next thing she knew, the woman came up to her and spanked her with an angry look on her face, “Didn’t I ask you to stand there, why do you keep running?”

“Oh, Mom, stop, it hurt!”. Actually, she felt no pain and was only pretending. Then she covered her bottom and moaned, “I dropped my chocolate, I just wanted to pick it up.”

Realizing she was carrying a box of chocolate in her arms, Hayden approached her and asked, “Where did you get it?”.

Stella played with her fingers and replied, “A handsome gentleman thinks I’m cute and gave it to me.”

“He gave it to you, and why don’t you go with him?”. Hayden felt more furious and wanted to spank her again.

Stella groaned and quickly covered her bottom. She used her usual trick looking at Hayden with teary eyes. “Mommy, I’m sorry. I’ll face the wall for three minutes.”

“Ten minutes!”

Stella wailed. “Ten minutes is too long, why can’t Mommy worry about me more?”.

“I’ll extend the time if you bargain me more!”.

Stella no longer dared to utter a word. She curved her lips and went with Hayden obediently while holding his hand.

Having returned after five years, the change of N City was beyond her imagination. The city was filled with tall skyscrapers.

Hayden was up early the next day. After settling Stella in, he hailed a cab just outside the entrance to the district and headed for the ST Group building downtown. Today was ST Group’s seasonal interview day and there were a lot of people coming and going through the revolving door.

“Oh, wait!” Seeing that the elevator was about to close its door, Hayden rushed toward it on his high heels. He gritted his teeth and managed to squeeze through the shaft before it closed, “Sorry, I’m here to…. Oh!”

She was too quick to step in. One of the heels of her shoe buckled and she fell to the floor. It seemed to her to touch a silky soft fabric with both hands and she grabbed it unconsciously. Then she fell completely toward the person and the strong smell made her dizzy.
