“You can meet with anyone you want, but absolutely not Gilbert,” Shaun said firmly to Halsey. “From now on, no more meeting

him.”

He was at the office when the maid called to tell him Halsey had gone out. He had his assistant check, and found out she was meeting with Gilbert.

She could meet anyone, but not Gilbert.

“If you don’t want me seeing Gilbert, then I have a request too-I don’t like Elise, so you’re not allowed to see her either!” Halsey shot back.

Shaun blinked, clearly not expecting her to bring up Elise. “Elise is my secretary…”

“So fire her! She’s never allowed in your house. Can you do that?”

If he didn’t want her to see Gilbert, then fairness meant she shouldn’t have to accept him seeing Elise.

Could he actually do that?

If he could, then so could she.

Shaun showed no strong emotion, his handsome face calm as ever.

“I-”

However, he was interrupted by a sweet voice.

“Mr. Lane…”

Halsey looked up-Elise was here. She groaned inwardly. Elise really was like a bad smell-no matter where she went, there she noveldrama

was.

Elise walked over. “Mr. Lane, Ms. Mallin, hello.”

Halsey replied coldly, “Hi.”

“Mr. Lane, are you going to the office today?” Elise asked Shaun.

He shook his head. “No.”

Elise smiled. “Okay. Anyway, Warren just called. He said it’s been a while since the guys got together, and they’re meeting at the

bar tonight.”

Shaun pressed his lips together. “Okay.”

Elise continued, “I know it’s a private gathering with Warren and the others tonight, but can I come? I used to dance there, and I’m a good drinker. I can drink on your behalf.”

Elise tilted her sweet face and looked at Shaun with eyes full of admiration. She was saying all this loud enough for Halsey to hear, trying to stir up trouble.

Halsey just watched coldly, unimpressed by Elise’s cheap tricks.

Honestly, Elise didn’t even need to try so hard-it was really up to Shaun. If he fell for her act, that was all she needed.

Shaun glanced at Halsey. “You’re coming with me tonight.”

Elise was asking to come, but he told Halsey to join him.

Halsey opened her mouth to protest.

But then Shaun looked at Elise and said, “You can come,

too.”

He actually agreed to let Elise come.

Halsey had wanted to refuse, but once she heard Shaun say Elise was coming, she immediately changed her mind.

She gave a cold laugh. “Fine. I’m free tonight anyway. Let’s all go and have some fun.”

Halsey decided to go.

Elise didn’t welcome Halsey at all-she wanted to be the only one going with Shaun.

“I look forward to tonight,” Elise said, deliberately flipping a lock of hair over her cheek.

When Elise raised her hand, Halsey noticed the diamond bracelet on her wrist.

The bracelet sparkled brilliantly, dazzling especially in the sunlight. Halsey wasn’t blind-she saw it immediately.

Was that the diamond bracelet Shaun had bought for Elise? That jerk!

In her heart, Halsey silently cursed Shaun.

Back when he was poor, she had stuck by him. Now that he had made it big, he still hadn’t given her a fancy gift like that diamond bracelet.
