The Heartbreak Prescription

Maybe Halsey’s gaze was too sharp-it caught Shaun’s attention. He looked at her.

“What’s wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?”

Halsey was stunned. Did he really not know why?

She finally snapped, “You’re a jerk!”

This time, she didn’t just think it-she actually said it out loud.

She called him a jerk!

Elise was shocked. “Why are you insulting Mr. Lane? You’re so bold! You’re the first person I’ve ever seen talk to him like that!”

Halsey rolled her eyes. “What are you gonna do about it?”

She shot Elise a sharp look. She figured the best way to deal with a pick-me like Elise was to drop the act and just go straight for the burn.

Besides, Elise wouldn’t dare talk back in front of Shaun because she wanted to play the weak and quiet damsel.

Elise was furious, but didn’t show it on her face. Instead, she looked at Shaun with fake hurt in her eyes. “Ms. Mallin is so stubborn!”

Shaun looked at Halsey’s face and suddenly let out a low, quiet chuckle.

He laughed.

Elise was stunned. Shouldn’t Shaun be angry right now? Why was he laughing?

Why?

Shaun opened the front passenger door. “Get in.”

Halsey walked toward the car, but then Elise stepped forward too. “Ms. Mallin, I’ll take the front passenger seat. You can sit in the back.”

Elise was claiming the front seat.

Halsey sneered. “Why? Why do you get the front seat, and I have to sit in the back?”

Elise smiled sweetly. “By business etiquette, the back seat is the most honorable place. I want to give you the most respectful

seat.”

Her reasoning was flawless.

Halsey frowned. “I don’t need the honor. I want the front seat!”

She tried to get in.

However, Elise was quicker and bumped Halsey aside with her shoulder. “I’m sitting here.”

Elise shot Halsey a victorious look as she was about to get in.

Halsey scoffed.

Did Elise really think she was some pushover? How ridiculous!

Just as Elise was about to climb in, Halsey suddenly grabbed a handful of her long hair. noveldrama

Elise screamed in pain.

She was all dressed up today, with every strand of hair perfectly styled. Around Shaun, she took great care of her appearance- she wanted to win him over and become Mrs. Lane.

Halsey pulling her hair caught her completely off guard.

“Ah! Why are you pulling my hair? Let go right now!” Elise shouted.

Halsey smirked. “Get out.”

She put all her strength into yanking Elise out of the front passenger seat.

Elise’s eyes watered from the pain. “Let go of me!”

Halsey released her. “Consider that a little lesson. Remember, you shouldn’t covet what’s not yours, or you’ll get hurt!”

With that, Halsey casually climbed into the front passenger seat and sat down.

Elise was furious and full of hatred. If Shaun hadn’t been there, she would have probably pulled Halsey’s hair right back.

But with Shaun around, she couldn’t cause a scene. She just looked at him with watery eyes.

“Mr. Lane, did you see that? Ms. Mallin pulled my hair so hard, and it really hurt. I thought she was going to rip my scalp right off. Can’t you do something about it?”
