The Heartbreak Prescription

Halsey’s pale eyes suddenly welled up with tears. After all the years she had known Shaun, she had always dreamed of marrying

him.

And now, he had proposed.

She opened her mouth to speak, but just then, Warren appeared.

“Shaun, what are you doing here?”

At that moment, Halsey remembered-Warren, Chelsea, and Gilbert still hadn’t been dealt with.

Before she and Shaun could get married, all of this must be ended. Shaun also deserved to know the truth about what had happened back then.

Halsey looked at Shaun and said, “I need to think about it.”

Shaun smiled gently. “Take your time. My baby’s growing in your belly, so I’m not worried about you running off—I can wait.”

He said he could wait.

And somehow, that meant more to Halsey than any sweet talk ever could.

If it hadn’t been for his persistence these past three years, the two of them might have already parted ways forever due to all the

lies and schemes.

Yet, he had never let go of her hand.

Just then, Warren walked up. “Hey, what are you doing here?”

Halsey slipped her arm through Shaun’s in a deliberate move and said with a smile, “Shaun brought me here to buy diamonds and jewelry!”

Warren had never liked Halsey. Now, hearing her say that on purpose, his face immediately darkened. “Why are you still with

her?”

Shaun frowned, his handsome features sharp with displeasure. There was a warning in his tone as he addressed Warren. “Show some respect to Halsey from now on, or we’ll stop being friends.”

“Shaun!”

Right then, Shaun’s phone started ringing. He pulled it out and said to Halsey, “I need to take this.”

She nodded. “Go ahead.”

Shaun walked out, leaving Halsey alone with Warren.

Warren wasted no time being polite and immediately gave her a cold look. “Why are you still clinging to Shaun? Do you think this is some kind of game?”

Halsey raised an eyebrow. She knew Warren had been blinded by the lies from back then and had been completely brainwashed by Chelsea.

“I think you’ve got it backward. I’m not chasing after him-he’s the one chasing after me.”

“Oh, and that Elise who looks so much like me? She’s been fired. You know that, right?”

Warren frowned. “I just found out, which is why I came to find Shaun.”

In Warren’s mind, as long as it wasn’t Halsey, Chelsea or Elise would do just fine.

“Do you know why he fired Elise? She bought a fake diamond bracelet and falsely claimed he had given it to her, so he let her go. Shaun brought me here to shop today. He paid for all these.”

Halsey pointed to the row of packed shopping bags behind the display.

Warren’s face twisted with frustration, and that only pleased Halsey even more. Even though she knew Warren was Shaun’s best friend, she hadn’t forgotten how he had almost caused her to lose her baby on the operating table.

“And by the way, Shaun proposed to me.”

“What did you say?” Warren’s expression completely changed.

Halsey lifted her hand, showing off the glittering diamond on her ring finger. “See this? He picked it out for me himself. He proposed just now. All I have to do is say yes, and I’ll officially become Mrs. Lane.”

Warren was speechless.

“So you’d better think twice before messing with me,” Halsey added before turning around and walking away.
