The Heartbreak Prescription

Halsey didn’t need to look back to know how furious Warren was at this moment, but she couldn’t care less.

She figured he would find Chelsea next, and then Chelsea would turn to Gilbert. The two of them would certainly panic.

And that was exactly what Halsey wanted-to force them into a corner and make them slip up.

As Halsey walked away, Warren was seething. He simply couldn’t understand why Shaun had loved Halsey for so many years and had even proposed. At this rate, they might really get married soon.

Without hesitation, Warren pulled out his phone and dialed Chelsea.

Chelsea wasn’t alone right now-she was with Gilbert.

Because of the Elise incident, Chelsea had kept a low profile for a few days: Still, both she and Gilbert were becoming more anxious. Halsey was pregnant, and that belly was only going to get bigger.

Chelsea’s phone rang, and she glanced at the screen. “It’s Warren.”

Gilbert was swirling a glass of wine in his hand. “Answer it.”

Chelsea picked up. “Hey.”

“Bad news. Something serious just happened.”

“What’s going on?”

“Shaun took Ms. Mallin shopping for diamonds today, and he proposed to her!”

“What?!” Chelsea shot up from her seat, clutching the phone in disbelief. “What did you just say?”

Warren repeated it, “You heard me right-Shaun proposed to Ms. Mallin!”

Chelsea felt her world crumbling down.

Gilbert, seeing Chelsea’s face go pale, asked in a low voice, “What happened?”

“Shaun proposed to Halsey!” Chelsea blurted out.

Gilbert froze. His hand clenched around the wine glass, and, with a sharp crack, it shattered in his palm.

“Chelsea, are you there?” Warren’s voice came urgently through the phone.

“Yeah, I’m still here. Did she say yes?”

“No, she didn’t. Not yet. If she had, they’d already be on their way to City Hall. But just because she didn’t say yes now doesn’t mean she won’t later. We need to act fast!”

So, Halsey hadn’t accepted Shaun’s proposal yet. But what if she did?

Chelsea was panicking. She had invested so much time and effort into Shaun, so there was no way she was giving him up.

“Okay, Warren. I’ll think of something. Wait for my update.”

She hung up and looked across the table at Gilbert. “Did you hear that? Shaun proposed to Halsey! After everything we’ve done, they’re still about to get married. If that happens, all our efforts will be wasted. You need to think of something! We can’t let them get married!”

Blood was already seeping from Gilbert’s palm where the shattered glass had cut him.

He gritted his teeth and growled, “You think I’m okay with this? Halsey belongs to me! Why does she insist on being with that broke scum?”

“What do we do now?” Chelsea said, panicking.

Gilbert paused, then said coldly, “We have no choice but to go all in. If I can’t have her, I’d rather destroy her. If she’s not mine, then no one else can have her either!” noveldrama

Chelsea’s fury suddenly melted into satisfaction. She knew Gilbert really did love Halsey.

Years ago, Gilbert had cheated on Halsey. After she left, she became the unattainable woman he could never forget.

He had never been able to bring himself to hurt her-until now.

Now, he was finally ready to go all the way.
