too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 587

Beatrice's brows furrowed. She couldn't read Lila's thoughts.

"Faith is my daughter. I admit I was biased, but I want to make it up to her now," Beatrice said.

Lila snorted. "Mrs. Moore, this is a Moore family matter. Or rather, this is between you and Faith. I don't see how it has much to do with me."

Lila was making it clear there was nothing for them to talk about.

Beatrice's gaze sharpened. "I know Moore Group shareholders' meeting was moved up. That was Kieran's decision, wasn't it?

"If you're trying to help Faith, wouldn't my shares be crucial?"

Lila chuckled again. "If you were willing to transfer them, you'd go straight to Faith and sign the transfer agreement. But instead, you came to me. That makes it hard for me not to question your intentions."

She observed the shift in Beatrice's expression and quickly assessed her motives. Wasn't it weird Beatrice suddenly decided to hand over shares to Faith?

Lila tapped her finger against her steering wheels and wiped the smile off her face. "I've made myself clear. I'll be leaving now."

With that, she rolled up the window and maneuvered around Beatrice before driving off.

Back at Vermilion Estate, Lila hesitated before informing Faith about the encounter. "Although she's your mother, her sudden change of heart is odd. You should be cautious."

Faith's reply came quickly. "Thank you, I'll be careful."noveldrama

Lila didn't respond further. She knew she shouldn't meddle in other people's family matters. But she couldn't help but feel emotional after hearing about Faith's past.

The day before Moore Group shareholders' meeting, Matthew was finally discharged.

Lila messaged Michael. "He's getting discharged this afternoon, right? Finish the paperwork first. I'll bring lunch for you two.

She loaded up her car with food and headed to the hospital. Just as she got out to grab the things, someone suddenly pressed a cloth over her nose from behind.

Her instincts kicked in, and she struggled, scratching marks into the attacker's arm.

A muffled grunt sounded from behind. She recognized the voice. It was Andy.

He must have lost his mind. How dare he attack her in broad daylight, right outside a hospital teeming with people!

She tried to scream, but her voice wouldn't come out. Whatever was on the cloth was drugging her, and her limbs were quickly losing strength.

The last thing she thought before blacking out was how lucky she was to have told Michael she was coming. Hopefully, he would notice if something went wrong.

A person fainting at the hospital wouldn't attract much attention.

Andy had someone carry Lila to another car, where they bound her hands and feet.

When Lila woke up, she saw how barren it was outside the window and knew they had left the city. "Andy, what do you think you're doing?"

The driver remained silent. Andy, seated in the passenger seat, turned to smirk at her. "Relax, I don't plan to kill you. send you back to the Morgan family as long as

cooperates and supports do

taking over Moore Group."

"Are you taking me to Luxford?" Lila pressed.

"Use your brain." Andy sneered. "There are checkpoints everywhere. Do you think

I'd even make it there if they see you like this?"

The car pulled up in front of an abandoned building. This was a half-constructed site on the outskirts of Northridge, an area once marked for development. A real estate company had bought the land, but plans changed, and the project was abandoned.

The car door swung open, and the driver dragged Lila out. She hit the car door

and pain immediately shot through her back.

"Andy, do you realize that kidnapping

is a crime? If anything happens to me, not only will you lose your- chance at Moore Group, but you'll also end up in prison." Lila forced herself to remain calm and wait.

Even if Michael was careless, Matthew was always meticulous. He would notice

something was wrong if she was gone too long.
