Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 913

Chapter 913:

“Focus on your meal,” Melba said, dabbing Joy’s mouth with a napkin.

“Mr. Flynn might be having his own family dinner about now.”

“Alright then.”

As evening progressed, the brief winter day faded quickly into night.

Switching on the TV, Hadley joined the two other adults and Joy on the couch, enjoying some snacks while they watched Joy’s favorite Christmas movie.

Cuddled up in Hadley’s embrace, Joy grew sleepy. “Mom, do you think Mr. Flynn has finished his dinner yet?”

“Not just yet,” Hadley responded, peering out the window to spare Joy any disappointment. “Mr. Flynn might be taking his time, perhaps enjoying a drink.”

“Oh,” Joy muttered, her eyelids heavy. “Do you think he’ll still come?”

“Feeling tired?” Hadley asked gently, not wanting to crush her hopes. “Why don’t you take a short nap? I’ll make sure to wake you when Mr. Flynn gets here.”

“Okay.” Joy could hardly keep her eyes open as she nestled deeper into Hadley’s embrace. “Just make sure to wake me, Mom.”

“Of course.”

Soon, Joy was sound asleep.

Quietly, Hadley carried her to the bedroom, gently laid her down, and made sure she was comfortable before glancing at the clock.

The time showed 8:30 PM.

A crease formed on Hadley’s forehead, a sense of unease settling in. She pondered Eric’s silence; had he returned to Srixby, he surely would have made contact by now.

Eric was rushing through Srixby International Airport at 10 PM. Exiting the VIP area, he was accompanied by Linda, Xander, and Theodore. On his phone, he coordinated with Phillips. “You’re in the garage? Alright, we’re on our way there.”

Eric glanced over at Linda. “We need to head to the garage.”

Looking visibly tired, Linda simply nodded her agreement. “Understood.”

Once they reached the garage, they were greeted by Phillips.noveldrama

Glancing at his watch, Eric asked, “How many vehicles did you arrange?”

“Two, Mr. Flynn,” Phillips replied.

“Good.” Eric nodded, then said, “Take Linda back. Grandma and my brother are expecting her.”

“Understood, Mr. Flynn.”

Linda looked confused as she turned to Eric. “Aren’t you coming with me?”

Eric shook his head. “I’ve got another matter to attend to.”

“What’s more urgent right now?”

“Linda,” Eric responded quickly, cutting her off. “I really can’t stay; I need to leave immediately.”

He then guided Xander and Theodore towards a different vehicle. As they drove away, Linda remained behind, her expression one of disbelief.

She struggled to grasp what could possibly take precedence over spending Christmas with his family.

Xander, behind the wheel, suddenly appeared distressed. “Mr. Flynn, we have a problem with the car.”

“What’s the issue?” Eric immediately tensed.
