Chapter 920
Chapter 920:
“Hadley! Are you really trying to run away?”
Behind Hadley, Linda didn’t hesitate and instantly began to chase after her.
Hadley ran fast, but Linda was determined and soon caught up with her by the elevator.
“Stop running!” Linda forcefully seized Hadley’s arm, glaring at her with fury and coldness. “Trying to run away? You’re responsible for what happened to Eric, and now you think you can just walk away?”
“I’m responsible?” Hadley let out a scornful laugh. Her gaze was sharp and her mind alert. “How did he get injured? You were with him at the airport. Didn’t you know what was happening? His injury has nothing to do with me!”
“What?” Linda retorted mockingly. “Yes, his injury has nothing to do with you! But can you honestly claim that he isn’t in his current condition because of you? He delayed his treatment because of you! Despite being so severely hurt, he was adamant to see you. That proves how badly you’ve treated him!”
How did that logic make any sense?
Hadley shook her head with a mocking smile. “That’s his problem, not mine! I didn’t even know he was injured; he didn’t say anything to me about it! He’s in this situation because of his own decisions! It’s not my fault, so stop trying to blame me. I refuse to accept that!”
“You…” Linda was speechless, clenching her teeth in anger. “You always have an answer for everything! I’m done arguing with you!” She yanked at Hadley, attempting to pull her back. “Come on, you’re his girlfriend. You can’t just leave him in a crisis like this!”
“Let go!” Hadley’s brow furrowed as she struggled to break free.
“Girlfriend?” She gave a dismissive chuckle. “Haven’t you heard? Eric and I are no longer together. We have nothing to do with each other now! I’m not his girlfriend!”

Linda’s eyes shot open in shock.
Could this be true? When did this happen?
Was it while she left Srixby for Storia?
They had actually broken up?
In the brief silence that followed, the elevator doors opened with a quiet hiss. Hadley stepped in, not glancing back once.
As the doors slid shut, Linda remained where she was, no longer trying to stop her.
Upon her return to her apartment, Hadley was greeted by the sound of crying as soon as she walked in.
“Waaah…”
Melba was cradling Joy, gently trying to calm her. “Don’t cry, Joy…”
She felt Joy’s forehead and murmured, “You don’t seem to have a fever. Can you tell me what’s bothering you?”
Elissa was the first to hear Hadley’s voice. “Joy, I’m back.”
“Oh dear.” Melba turned around. “Joy, look, your mom’s here. Go to her.”
“Mommy!” Joy, tears streaming down her cheeks, stretched out her small arms. “Mommy, hold me.”
Hadley, moved by her daughter’s distress, embraced her and kissed her forehead gently. “Why are you crying? Does your tummy hurt?”
“Uh…” Joy paused for a moment, then shook her head, tears still in her eyes. “No.” She nestled closer into her mother’s arms. “I just missed Mommy.”noveldrama
