Chapter 964
Chapter 964:
“Thanks.” He gave a sheepish grin, pulled out the chair, and sat down. “Not many people on this side.”
“Right,” Hadley agreed. Most had flocked to the director’s table—or Eric’s—eager for face time with the big names.
Ayla pouted from beside her friend. “I told you to sit by Adonis, but nooo. You had to be difficult.”
Hadley laughed, scooping food onto Ayla’s plate. “It’s quieter here. Less competition for food. We’ll actually get to eat—what’s not to love?”
“You…” Ayla sighed like a mother scolding a child. “You never take your shot!”
“Ahem.” The driver cleared his throat, clearly working up the nerve to speak. He then glanced nervously at Hadley. “Hadley.”
“Yes?” She turned to him, puzzled. “Something wrong?”
He rubbed his hands together, visibly anxious. “What is it?”
Meanwhile, across the room at another table, Eric’s eyes hadn’t left Hadley once. The moment the driver sat beside her, his expression darkened.
As soon as they started talking, Eric pushed his wine glass away. “Excuse me a moment.” He stood abruptly.
“Eric, where are you going?” Linda tried to catch his sleeve but missed. She could only watch as he strode across the room—right toward the quiet table in the corner.
Gritting her teeth, she followed.
Back at the corner table, the driver finally blurted out, “Hadley, can I… add you on WhatsApp?”
Hadley blinked, surprised. That was what he’d been so worked up about?
Ayla leaned in and whispered with a smirk, “He likes you.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Hadley muttered, worried others might hear.
The driver’s face turned beet red. Still, Hadley smiled politely. “Sure.” They were coworkers, after all. No need to make it awkward.
He lit up. “Great! Let me get my phone.”
As Hadley unlocked her phone and waited, Eric approached. His gaze landed on them—stone-cold, unreadable—and lingered.
He stopped behind Hadley, watching silently.
“Mr. Flynn?” Ayla was the first to notice him. She jumped to her feet, nudging Hadley in warning.
Hadley looked up briefly, but then deliberately turned her attention back to her phone.
“Here. You can scan it now,” she told the driver.
“Awesome!” He scanned the code, his excitement obvious.
Eric’s jaw clenched. Steam practically radiated from him. Was she seriously ignoring him? Adding some guy on WhatsApp, right in front of him? She was doing this on purpose!
“Mr. Flynn, would you like to sit?” Ayla offered quickly, reaching for a chair.
But Eric didn’t wait. With long, deliberate strides, he took Ayla’s seat—right beside Hadley—and dropped down like he owned it.
His arm stretched casually across the back of Hadley’s chair. His eyes locked onto the driver, sharp and menacing.
The poor guy froze. Being a new recruit, he had no idea what was happening, but instinct screamed danger.
Still, he forced a smile. “Good evening, Mr. Flynn.”
