Chapter 965
Chapter 965:
“Heh.” Eric sneered. “Do I look like I’m having a ‘good’ evening?”
Hadley frowned.
The driver felt his mind going blank. What the hell was going on?!
Had he offended Eric somehow?
How could a small fry like him offend such a powerful figure? The driver then ignored Eric and turned back to Hadley. “Hadley, um… can I ask you something?”
She exhaled slowly, not even glancing at the man beside her. “Go ahead.”
“Uh… do you have a boyfriend?”
“What?” Hadley blinked. So Ayla had been right.
Before she could reply, Eric leaned in, surveying the dishes. “Is this your glass?”
“What are you doing?” she asked warily.
“Making sure I don’t drink from the wrong one.” Without waiting, he picked it up and took a slow sip from the rim—right over her lipstick stain.
Hadley’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Setting the glass down, Eric looked pleased with himself. “What? You’re glaring. Are you mad I drank your water?”
He glanced at the driver before turning back to Hadley. “Go on. He asked you a question. You haven’t answered yet.”
Hadley gritted her teeth. “I don’t have a boyfriend.”
Eric seized her wrist. His voice was low and thunderous. “Say that again.”
“Let go!” she snapped, yanking her arm free. “I said it—and I’ll say it a thousand more times: I don’t have a boyfriend!”noveldrama
“You—” Eric fell silent, fury darkening his expression as he struggled for words. “Why are you making a scene?”

Hadley shook her head, her smile cold. “I’m not making a scene. If you just did what I asked, none of this would be happening.”
The driver sat frozen, dumbfounded. If it hadn’t been clear before, it was now—there was definitely something going on between these two. Quietly, he got up and left, heart sinking.
Eric’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen—Ernest. “Yeah?” he answered.
Hadley took the chance to rise.
“Sit back down.” Eric grabbed her again. “You’re not going anywhere.” His grip tightened, and no amount of struggling helped.
Hadley’s shoulders sagged. There was no use fighting. On the line, whatever Ernest said made Eric’s face go rigid. “I’m coming.”
He ended the call. Just then, Linda rushed up, phone in hand, expression grim.
“I got the call too,” she said urgently.
Eric nodded and looked at Hadley. “You’re coming with me.”
“Me? Why?”
Eric’s voice lowered. “My grandmother’s in the hospital. Don’t you think you should come?”
Then he reached down, took her hand, and laced their fingers together. “Let’s go.”
When the group reached the hospital, they found Nyla settled on the hospital bed. It turned out she had neglected her medication. Kira had handed her the pills earlier, and Nyla had set them aside, meaning to take them shortly—but it slipped her mind.
“Grandma!” Eric burst out, his frustration boiling over. “What were you thinking skipping your medication?”
“Oh, heavens!” Nyla pressed a hand to her chest, startled, and then fixed him with a scowl. “You nearly stopped my heart! I didn’t skip my meds on purpose. With that hot head of yours? No wonder Hadley’s not interested in you!”
